Where I live, there is a forest or a tract of forested land right beside it. I have seen kingfishers darting about, their wings a flash of vivid blue and red. Black-shouldered kites hover in the air as they hunt for prey. Migratory birds (little egrets) graze on the grass slopes and in the tiny creek running through. wildlife is remarkably resilient and adapts to cities.

Every year in spring, there is a magpie pair that dive-bombs pedestrians in a busy street in the inner city. About 10% of magpies do this to protect their nests. Mostly they go for people on bikes or otherwise on wheels (skateboards, scooters, rollerskates), but these ones attack regular pedestrians. The newspaper often has pictires of businessmen in suits running for cover holding newspapers over their heads!

Hehe, I was dive-bombed by a magpie before. That was when I was in Perth. :P *lol*

I remember the willy-wagtails too. :)

And yes, wildlife is remarkably resilient. ;)
