Just to make sure that this crap is hammered in y'alls heads, I'm making yet another post about DTV. If you have friends who will be affected, link them to this post!

Analog TV broadcasts will be cut off on February 17, 2009. If you use an antenna to receive analog TV, YOU MUST UPGRADE TO DIGITAL.

I think my dad ordered and used one of the coupons for a box already; though, I don't understand the whole having a TV on the boat thing.

I've got my box, but I need to get off my tail and buy an antenna that I can mount on the wall.

Does anyone know if these things get better Wall penetration? I live in an apartment and I can't get *anything* with an analog system. Really hope the DTV works better.

Some boxes are really sensitive, others need a little extra gain. And it always varies by your location. I'd suggest hooking up the box to your current antenna, and use the signal meter to check the strength of RF 39 (2 ABC WSB-DT), RF 20 (17 TBS WPCH-DT), RF 10 (11 NBC WXIA-DT)

If you're able to pick up a weak signal (partial bar), but not enough to do playback, find a cheap antenna/amplifier combo at Wal-mart. The bundled amp should be enough to get you a picture.

If you get absolutely nothing from the signal test, you'll want to do a little research to pick a better antenna. You'll want to have an antenna with good UHF reception. Only two of Atlanta's DTV stations are in upper VHF, WXIA-DT on RF 10 and WGTV-DT on RF-12. The rest are in UHF.

Check your theoretical reception at Antennaweb to find out how far away the towers are. With that you could go to a store and buy a suitable antenna for the distance. (Hint: The uglier the antenna, the better it probably performs) Or build your own. (A href="... )
