Awesome (my hippie name would be Bacon Pine... that can't be right.)
And NASCAR is the National Association of Stock Car Racing, started during prohibition in America by people racing the cars they used to smuggle alcoholic beverages in (in the south, specifically, and specifically moonshine.) The most famous of these founders is Junior Johnson, if that tells you anything about the names.
(incidentally, it is boring, and the only reason I know anything at all about it is because my dad and I like watching documetaries about the history of moonshine/anything alcoholic/prohibition/anything that may tickle or very odd sense of humour.)
Since graduating I have not once used anything that they made me learn at school. I have, however, used much of the vast store of useless information gleaned from documentaries, old reference books, na dof course 'The Straight Dope', which is *the* book of seemingly useless information.
And no, I've never heard of it.
*now wishes she hadn't deleted her bacon icon and resolves to get it back*
i hadn't done maths in year and then in this job, i have to do maths. well, adding mostly, the occasional subtraction, very occasional multiplication. i had to make that part of my brain work again. but now i am super-quick. at adding. it's a skill! ;-)
in my final year of school, i did a project on whores in renaissance Florence. i always knew that information would be vital for the rest of my life.
The Blue Martini - you'd need a cape! And black boots and shiny blue tights. I can imagine it! :D
I had to think for a while before I could recall my Grade 5 teacher, but I liked her, so that helped. My Grade 3 and 4 teacher however, I couldn't recall without my mother's assistance.
I like the name Jessie Rust-Bucket too! I may have to adopt it on occasion. ;-)
