What browser are you using? Because I've found that the latest version of Flash doesn't talk to Firefox properly. If ever I want to go to a site that's using a lot of Flash, I use IE instead.

hahahahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAR! i am using ... Netscape. *coff* I am ashamed, yes. But my computer is seriously old and I need to do something like update the OS or get a new one or something, so that I could use something snazzy like Firefox or Safari or whatev in which THINGS MIGHT ACTUALLY WORK! *le sigh* *is emo for no good reason!* Um, so, yep. I have some old verion of Internet Explorer on here as well, but that is slow like watching paint dry and then the grass grow slow.

That MIGHT be the problem, then :-)

IE is INCREDIBLY slow. I really notice the difference, as I hardly ever use it.

i don't even know why. it's in my head and i want to listen to it. youtube is (or WAS) my go-to place for that kind of thing - when a song or clip pops into my head and i need an instant fix. but now YOUTUBE SUCKS ARSE! and i am cranky!

i wonder, is it being a bitch to anyone else, or just me?

Okay, I'm a fellow luddite, but I did have this happen to me on You Tube and, exactly the same as you, I reinstalled and it didn't work. I think how I fixed it was to clear the cookies on my PC(under control panel, then internet options, at least on my PC it is). I hope it works for you...fingers crossed! k x

Oh, i'm glad it's not just me! did it happen to you recently? I'm trying to work out why now, why me, why you no like my pie?

... i tried your suggestion, but so far it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Poo. *grumble* :( But I'm off to bed now. I'll try and work something out later I guess.

Youtube updated again the other night, so I don't know if they've changed some code or something.

*is also rather pants at things*

*sigh* why change things? *grumble*

*wonders about your use of the words pants*
*wonders about your pants*
*wonders things...*
er. sorry about that. i'll focus now. and i'll try to imagine you are indeed wearing pants which is another word for 'trousers' or 'slacks' in my country. i mean, not that i was imagining anything else. no no no. hell, no. O_O

*giggles*

It is probably a good thing that I don;t have a digital camera, and can't take photos of my pants to show people over the interwebs. [They're only boxers that I've stolen from S. anyhow. Not that I'm hoping for him to steal my pants back as revenge, or anything. ;)]

As rhosyndu says, YT just did a big update (EVERYTHING is different). You said above you have an old computer with an old OS. How old we talking? What OS exactly do you have?

I dug around YT for their system requirements for watching videos:
http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78358

1. Macromedia Flash Player 7.0+ plug-in
2. Windows 2000 or higher with latest updates installed
3. Mac OS X 10.3 or higher
4. Firefox 1.1+, Internet Explorer 5.0+, or Safari 1.0+
5. Broadband connection with 500+ Kbps

You said you already updated Flash, but that you're using Netscape, so that may be your trouble. Firefox 1.1 is an older version, so that may work for you.

Does any of that help?

you know stuff! you're useful! you're so gonna become my go-to person for this kind of crap stuff. :D

it's Mac OS 10.1.5 ... which is old. and which now won't play videos, according to your info. i think firefox won't work on that OS either. damnit. maybe this means i might have to "do" something. to make it better and stuff. or get a new one, if i can afford it. *grumble grumble*

so, thank you for your help. at least I know what the problem is now. on the up-side, if i can't use youtube, then maybe i might actually get some writing done! that would be something! :D

I'm useful... My life has purpose now! ;D

I think the older OS might be the problem, yeah. I have Mac OS 10.3.9, and even I'm having trouble with some new programs that rely on Java.

I might die without YouTube. How will you go on???

oh. Mac os 10.3.9 sounds so exotic to me - so new-fangled and daring! so it's sad that you're also having problems... *le sigh*

I am not dying yet, but i am missing it. never realised i used to use it so much - just to skip over and watch something or other - and now i can't. and simply everyone posts links of things to watch there, so i will feel rather left out. :(
