Don't forget those out-of-towners that are always popping in. We look at them sideways not certain of their motives. Will they be an asset to the community or just use us and run away? And why do they think they know everything, never consulting us beer nursers?

i grew up in a field- and forest-bordered village in wisconsin's northwoods, and you've nailed that ethos.

makes me wonder whether we're not all in search of our own small town, regardless of subculture.
