While trying to scare up contracting work, I am often talking to several companies, each in different stages of the process. Many times, it has seemed like two or more of them are going to turn real at once. I fear that I am in danger of overcommitting myself. Over time, I have learned to ignore that concern. And if there's an economic downturn, all those contracts could vaporize in a flash. Happened in fall 2009 in the games business. But then the publishers realized a few months later they'd have nothing to sell next Christmas and it was back to work...

i thought we were already in an "economic downturn?" most of the stories i read seem to indicate that we (still) are, anyway. seems like the tech sector is doing better than most, though.
