Welcome to the John/Teyla Ficathon, running from September to November 2006. The name is fairly self-explanatory: we're looking for stories that focus on the characters of John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan.
The schedule:
*Sign-ups run from now until Sunday 8th October.
*Assignments will be handed out by Wednesday 11th October.
*Stories are due on Wednesday 22nd November (so that's six weeks to write).
Some rules:
*Stories should be 1000 words or more, but we're not going to be counting :)
*If possible, stories should be read by a beta. If you have problems finding one,
sga_beta is a good place to look, or we can try and find one for you here or at one of the other comms for this pairing.
*Please remember to state the rating of your story when it's posted, as well as any other warnings and spoiler alerts.
*No character bashing please.

NB: since this is a ficathon that accepts all ratings, please be clear as to whether you would like and are willing to write an adult-rated story or not, and also whether you mind references to season 3 episodes that have aired in the US or spoilers for future episodes.
NB: the following two paragraphs contain (very) vague spoilers for season 3.
Naturally, we'd love to see stories that explore the romantic possibilities between these two characters, because despite what some people think, it's not that popular a pairing and there's not that much fic out there for them. However, we're also looking for writers and stories that explore the friendship that these two have and how well they work together. A couple of episodes in Season 3 have given us some great team and friendship moments, and it would be nice to read fics that explore some of the many aspects of both characters that TPTB have ignored. How about a story that pits John's Ancient gene against Teyla's Wraith DNA in a war game? Or the two of them working together to get Rodney and Ronon out of the mess that they inevitably get into offworld?
We're all pretty upset about TPTB's treatment of Teyla this season, and let's face it, she was the most under-used character in the previous two seasons too - would you like to see a specific scene re-written to give her a more significant role? What if she had been on the hive ship in Seige II along with the others instead of in Atlantis? What if Teyla had been possessed by Phoebus in The Long Goodbye instead of Elizabeth? How would the fact that they tried to kill each other have affected their relationship - would Phoebus or Thalen have succeeded without non-possessed Teyla there to stop them? Gen and team fic will be welcomed with open arms provided that both John and Teyla play a significant part.
We're also accepting all ratings, from G through to NC-17. Have a thing for dominant Teyla (well, don't we all), or want to see an R-rated alternative to that scene in Conversion? This pairing has so much potential for adult fic, with or without a plot.
So...friendship, pre-relationship, established relationship, fluff, angst, smut - anything goes.
You only have to write one of the requests, but obviously you can have a go at all three if you want to - the more stories, the better! A reminder will be posted here two weeks before the deadline, as well as requests for betas or back-up writers if needed.
When you're finished, please provide a link to your completed story or post it here under an LJ cut. We will put together a masterlist of who wrote which request on 21st November, and add links to the stories as they come in. If you don't have an LJ or don't want to join the community, email one of the mods with a link and we'll make it sure it goes on the masterlist.
If you feel that you can't work with the assignments given, or can't finish the story in time (or at all), just let us know and we'll see what we can do.
