John pulled the blankets up and sighed. It was too quiet in the warehouse. Too bare. His family was either asleep or out and whilst some quiet was good, the silence made him itch. He yawned widely and rubbed his eyes, itchy with sleep and no doubt red. He should have napped earlier when he could have but now sleep alluded him. %he pain in his head ( Read more... )

She was quite and still in bed, listening to him, feeling his restlessness in her bones the way she could read his other moods. Just like she knew he was worried about how she was feeling. She wasn't about to lie and say she was over it, because she wasn't. Not really.

It was dulling more as the days passed, but it was still there, like a gate between them. They could see through it, and it seemed like something that should be so easy to get past, but it was still there, and it wasn't quite as easy as it looked.

His breath caught as she pressed back against him and made him lick his lips, making a soft sound - he'd thought her asleep. He wrapped his arms around her, resting his hands on her stomach and the slight swell there, comforting in it's presence.

"I'm just tired," he swallowed softly. "And I really want to go outside." And he really wanted everything to be okay between them, but he knew it would take time, like everything took time.

"You should rest, John," she murmured, pressing her head back to look at him over her shoulder. She made a small sound of agreement. "Going outside would be nice." Sometimes she went a little stir crazy in the warehouse, to be honest.

She pressed back again, moaning quietly. "I can't offer outside, but I can offer a little amusement inside if you'd like," she said, her voice almost teasing, though she wasn't.

"I should, yes," he said in agreement, smiling softly as she looked over her shoulder at him. "I'd like to go to the theater actually, not the movie theater. Shakespeare or something."

He laughed softly, echoing her moan with one of his own. "Mmm, I'd like. I'd like very much indeed."
