I feel like I've been stuck in a bit of a blogging rut lately - sort of very dense, chewy political stuff and very dense, chewy (though not necessarily emotionally intense) metablogging.  So I thought I'd try to do a little more low-key journaling on here for a while.  I hope this doesn't disappoint those of you who are really into dense and chewy

Yeah, the first of those two messages is especially right-on in capturing this movie. There is a strong sense of imperialist as well as rich-boy noblesse oblige to this movie that I hadn't quite put my finger on before. It is sort of a human rights imperialism version of Batman in a sense - saving the little Afghanis instead of the little people of Gotham - with the twist that intervention might require busting up a US corporation or even understanding the limited vision and competence of the US military (while also grasping their basic goodness).
