yeah, sometimes I think I should drop out of grad school, get a job as a teacher, and start to try to buy a house. that way, my grandmother, who is 71 now, could stop working, and we could live out the rest of her years living together. I don't know what the fuck I'm doing in grad schoo pretty often.

are you christian, btw? if yes, what kind?

Well, I'm with you on the periodic crisis of confidence. The thing is I actually really like my project ideas and having the time and space for this kind of work - and I actually get reminded of that periodically, especially when I'm away from it for a while. For me I guess the hardest part is figuring out where I fit with this world socially, and who I am if I fit.... Of course they're related, because a lot of the hoop-jumping is essentially social in a way.

I am a Christian ... the kind who gets along better with atheists and Jews than other Christians! Seriously ... I was raised sort of atheist, though my family is low-church protestant - my granddad was a lay preacher, and that definitely left a certain flavor with me. I guess my beliefs are most closely aligned with liberation theology. I periodically think of converting to Catholicism, but taking on Catholicism in the US is taking on a lot of bullshit esp. around various aspects of gender.... I don't know.

just quick (supposed to me asleep long ago - though I know to you this is a strange idea!) - thought maybe that sending this link here would work better for some reason than otherwise - it's from Dean Spade's online zine makezine.org:
