On a question of curtsying.

From preschool, when I grew up, we were taught to curtsy. Some of us at least could appreciate that this was an act of poise and dignity. But in seeming contradiction to that, the one thing that struck us all was pulling up our skirts. And boys were there and could see this. I know how to do it but I wouldn't dream of demeaning myself. No one is my superior especially not royalty (but as a republican I would say that :o)

I learned to curtsy in ballet and drama. During the latter I also learned how to navigate through a door wearing a hoop skirt when the door isn't wide enough. You pick up one side of your skirt and slide on through. :D
