The problem I see with socialist feminism is that it subordinates women's issues to the state which is controlled by men. So much for feminism, in that case. The same goes for some types of Islamic feminism, for the same reason. You might want to read Embroideries and Nylon Road (if you haven't already) - both graphic novels about being a woman under Islam, and in Iran. the main character in Nylon Road went through a lot of changes until she emigrated to Switzerland.

I have both volumes of Persepolis, saw the movie twice. I've read Embroideries, but not the other one.
