You might want to read Embroideries and Nylon Road (if you haven't already) - both graphic novels about being a woman under Islam, and in Iran. the main character in Nylon Road went through a lot of changes until she emigrated to Switzerland.

I have both volumes of Persepolis, saw the movie twice. I've read Embroideries, but not the other one.
