Hello, friends. Happy Thanksgiving. It has been about three months since I last posted here. In those three months a lot has gone down in my life. Right now I don't know how to begin to get caught up narrating any of it for you. I've been through a lot of change. Been taken this way and that by changes. I quite like the series too. But I only got halfway through the second one precisely because of how grim and gruesome it is I had to set it down. I keep thinking I'll pick it up and finish it some day, but, uh, I started reading it when my abuser lent me the book, so that has an impact too.

I finally left my abuser, just after my birthday in September. That's one of the changes that has gone down that hasn't gotten journaled yet.

So reading it having liberated myself from that abusive situation is another thing altogether. Good point. That has a lot to do with the whole thrust of these books.

I love that series -- well, pretty much everything she's written. Have you read the Xenogenesis series yet?

That's next on the list. I just started volunteering at the reopened SisterSpace, which is a black feminist bookstore in Washington DC. They have all the Octavia Butler books. I'm going to be a busy reader. I want to get caught up on Alice Walker too.
