The other night, I began attending a women's self-defense class in DC, given by Defend Yourself. I registered for this class through WEAVE (Women Empowered Against Violence). I am so glad I'm doing this ( Read more... )

I'm definitely going to look into that this semester, especially seeing the distance between my dorm and the campus. Although not far, definitely darker than I like at night... I think I pushed my luck far enough running to King's Cross at 11:30 at night in London one too many times and wandering through the after dark path in Exeter as well... I've exhausted my "It's okay, you're safe." passes.

Thanks for posting this, it's so empowering to read about it and about other women investing their time in it. Plus I love that t-shirt, that's amazing! Seriously brilliant. :o)

you weren't to know but when i say i was *raised* female, it's also true that i've since transitioned socially and hormonally and go by 'he'. but it's true that i hail from england! thanks for the warm welcome :)
