Eeeek...I know this is probably the totally wrong place to put this, and I will delete this if you don't want it here but I feel I have to say something.
Somewhere at some point I found out you got a book published, and me being the curious nosey bugger I am, I went looking for it and ordered it from Waterstones. It came through on Monday. And I just wanted to say how much I am enjoying it, and what an excellent writer I think you are. I was always a bit of a closet Busted fan and an even more closeted Busted Slash fan, and it was writing like yours that kept me reading it when shame might have stopped me. *giggles*
Aside from my envy (which I feel is only natural :P) of your writing skills and the fact you have a published piece, I am very pleased for you. The story is brilliant, I love how you write such dark comedy, and the characters, who so reflect people I think everyone has met, are so 3D.
Anyways, enough ass kissing, I just thought I'd let you know that I really enjoyed your book, it was a refreshing and different read!x
eeHee!!! My ribbon's still being used!blocketteJune 28 2006, 21:57:03 UTC
I'm the person who painstakingly drew that ribbon graphic, years ago. [From memory: Draw black ribbon on white background > blur > draw blue ribbon on top > draw yellow lines > screw up and start again > repeat as necessary > put text1 on a copy > Put text 2 on another copy > Put everything in freeware gif animating program. ] Took me *weeks*, coz I could only use the computer a bit at a time. Then later I got Photoshop, and had access to transparency & layers & drop-shadows & things.
How wonderful!!! *caper and bounce* Who'd have thought my ribbon would keep making its way around the Web all this time, and turn up years later on a friend-of-a-friend's journal?!?!!!! :-D Makes me wish I'd kept working on it 'til it was perfect. Ah well, apparently it must have been good enough, if people are still using it today!!! Yay for the internet! I'm immortal! (Hmmm... I must have used up this week's entire supply of exclamation marks. Must be more careful - don't want to run out and have to be apathetic for the rest of the week.)
Wow---honestly, this is the first time I've heard about it. I'd like to put the ribbon in my userinfo, both as chilibreath and zfiledh, if its ok with you.
