Recommend Me Some Software

Well having just wiped my restored Desktop and reformatted it, I'm looking through Software to install. Thought I'd ask you all for recommendations.

At the moment my plan is to install:
* Mozilla Firefox
* Open Office
* Trillian
* Skype

So what else would you guys recommend me.

I'd recommend using Chrome instead of Firefox - Firefox is still ridiculously bad for memory.

The Gimp - for any image editing needs

Media Player Classic - the latest build doesn't work on my computer, but one of the previous ones. People also seem to like VLC, but I don't.

I hear that FooBar2000 is a good audio player but I haven't tried it. Winamp is also an option but I find the interface clunky when used as a media library. I use iTunes, with which I have been falling steadily out of love, but I have to use it to sync with my ipod and iphone, and I can't be bothered to run two media libaries at once.

Hmm, maybe I'll think of some more things.

Cool thanks Jim. Got WinAmp atm. Picked up Media Player Classic as I recalled it from last time you'd showed it to me, GIMP too. Steam because I want games off of it and I'll look into Chrome.

+1 for Chrome, VLC and Steam.

Aside from that, it depends on what you use your PC for. I'd recommend some good anti-virus software. I use AVG Free, which is not great but is free.

Yeah so do I. I'll look into Chrome then, as both you and Jim seem to think it is worth it. I'll also look at VLC.

Steam I got an hour or so ago. So I must agree there.
