He's... concerned. Connor was gone when Duncan woke that morning. So was Methos for that matter. Thing is, Methos was prone to wandering off for hours and days on end. Duncan didn't worry so much when Methos did these things. But Connor... Duncan and Connor weren't exactly back on stable ground just yet and Duncan was worried that Connor had been ( Read more... )

It's a maintenance kind of day, so the owner is up on a ladder replacing lightbulbs. It's always awkward getting up and down, so it's better done in the morning when he's at his best. Just because he's at the bar doesn't mean he doesn't know anything, though. He doesn't do quite as much legwork as he used to, but he's got more contact with other field agents now.

"Hey Mac. Little early to start drinking."

Duncan moved over to where the ladder stood and glanced up at the older man.

"You know, you do have help around here to do these kinds of things for you, Joe," he said quietly. "And yeah, I know it is... I just don't seem able to find Connor and while yes, I know, he's old enough to take care of himself, I'm just a little concerned. I was curious if he'd been by here today by chance."

"You know what they say. If you want something done right..." He's already checked the database this morning, trying to keep tabs on all the immortals in the area. It's kind of convenient when two immortals are together, because then one of them can knock off for a while, although considering how long and how well Connor dodged them, he's getting watched pretty closely now that he's back in sight.

Joe descends the ladder carefully, looking down. He can't feel the rungs under his feet, after all. "Doesn't he got out for walks or runs or something, a lot?" He's famous for it.

"Yeah..." Duncan reaches to lightly take Joe's arm for that last step down. "But after what happened with Jacob Kell and all, I'm... I'm not so sure he wouldn't try to commit suicide again, Joe. He didn't leave me a note to say he was leaving, he hasn't called... I can't deal with going another ten years of not knowing where he is or if he's alive or God only knows what else..." He lets go of Joe and wanders over to the bar, grabbing the Scotch and pouring himself a glass before sitting on the stool.

"Methos would tell me I'm being an ass and to just let him go... but I can't."

It was good to be back out on the water, but Connor didn't mean to be quite so long. He wasn't really expecting a short boating trip when he left this morning. It's a little after noon by the time he gets back, feeling a mix of sheepish and defensive in anticipation of whatever Duncan will have to say.

He steps into the dojo warily, letting the quickening tell him if Duncan is upstairs or down.

Duncan is in the office of the dojo when he feels the quickening and he stands, moving out of the office to see if it's Methos or Connor. He doesn't hide his relief when he sees his older kinsman and he knows Connor can likely tell he's on edge.

"You were gone when I got up this morning..."

"You know I go for walks in the morning... anyway, I tried to call later, and you weren't here." Of course there were no messages. Connor hates the telephone. He's a little on the defensive, though, because he feels guilty.

"I wasn't here because I was off looking for you," Duncan says, a little angry at Connor being defensive. "Where'd you go? No off headhunting I take it since you're don't look any worse for wear..."

Scott had a day off from working on Morgan's loft today, so he'd been wandering around, having returned to the original quest of finding out who the fighting swordsmen in the warehouse had been. He'd let it rest for too long, but perhaps a fresh approach was a good thing.

He wandered into the bar, not long after Duncan returns, a plain folder under arm with what little information he had tucked safely away inside.

Duncan was sitting at the bar, waiting for Joe to come out of the back office, hoping his Watcher had found something out about Connor. he turned when he heard someone else enter and glanced at the mortal for a moment before turning back to his drink.

Scott watched Duncan a moment as he approached the bar and glanced toward the back office briefly as he set his folder down on the bar.

"Is Joe around today?" Because he realizes, even the owner takes days off, sometimes.

Duncan nods at the man.

"Yeah, he's in the back office at the moment..." He holds a hand out to the man. "Duncan MacLeod."
