Haaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha! Threshing accident. Only you. Hope you didn't lose anything important. Hey, you don't still have the Boy Scout uniform, do you? *giggles at the mental image*
Impending move? Oh God, you're not going to Ohio to permanently geek out, are you? So, canoe monkey, since it's my birthday, how about saving a paddle for me?
I did it once, steering for the Parade Girl's team one year. I had had experience in Hawaii with Outrigger canoes off of Waikiki from High School, but those D-land canoes are a whole different story. To blatantly rip off Ford Prefect, "looks like a fish, moves like a fish, steers like a cow..." Well, not quite. More like "looks like it might float, moves kinda, steers like a dump truck." We managed to win the Sprints that year. Pink Fluffy Bunnies II, with GG at the helm, and me just in front of him to provide secondary steerage (paddling on a particular side, independant of the rest of the crew,) got another silver that year, I believe (actually, it was a 2nd-place paddle that year.)
GG can really steer those things. It's no mean feat to get them to go in a straight line, never mind cut those corners the way you need to and still keep forward progress...
