I've been messing with some electronics lately and decided to document my progress here. I've started with a 100khz Function Generator by canakits to get some basic skills in soldering/de-soldering and identifying parts.

awesome.. my dad and i built one from a kit, but it didn't work.

You should check for cold solder joints, or bridged connections across the PCB. Also, if you have a multimeter you should check measurements on your parts to make sure you didn't solder anything in the wrong place or backwards.
