Maybe he has to take and Advanced in one of those four classes. Also, CoMC is a possibility, I don't see how he's going to pass MoM standards on it with certain people teaching it. (Okay, wow, I didn't even know I felt that way about that. Ha ha... it's amazing what thinking does to you!)

As I was TRYING to tell you, I think you would prob need a NEWT in History of Magic cos that would explain alot about wizarding laws what they are, when they changed and why. Also it would be kinda like an endurance test, so only people who really, really want to be an auror will be qualified to apply.

Er... Nope. Maybe it's a class they can only take AFTER they pass OWLS, you know like a 3unit HSC subjector something...
