I really like this poem

Apr 30, 2008 17:07

FAR AWAY

She ran faster than tears

ran straight ahead

no boundary was in front of her

no one chased her

no one was racing against her

luminous space waited

to take her in its embrace

-- Julia Hartwig from "In Praise of the Unfinished"

That joyful freedom, because she out-raced sadness -- that's something I'd like to experience.

I would like someone to chase me if I ever did run away. I'd also rather have sadness than luminous space.

You really would rather be sad? And I don't think she's running away. I think she's outrunning sadness and open to possibilities. That's how I read it, anyhow.

Yea, I would. Feeling is important to me, it's the lack that scares me. I can see your take on the poem, but I guess I'm just biased against running away. I've had too many bad expieriences with escape-ism and I'm jaded.

But thank you for sharing the poem, it is lovely.
