We got a fixed cellular deivce beck before cell went all digital. This let us get rid of AT&T. It was like $600, but we saved over $50/month so it paid for itself in less than a year.

When we left Verizon, we waited until the Home Connect was available so we could keep a home phone. That was $100 from Ting. Works like champ.

So far it's working well. Time will tell how it fairs long term but it got me a phone and for that I'm happy! Thanks for the feedback regarding your experience for the technology. I was very close to going with verizon for many reasons but ending up sticking with at&t mainly due to knowing I had the signal there and my experience in the stores.
