Because I Wasn't As Behind As I Thought: The Three Dream Cars, and More

Feb 15, 2011 19:01

... so here, a combined post on three topics before I leave for Houston & Austin for a week tomorrow morning.

First, inspired by dan4behr:  The three cars I would own if price weren't much of an object.  Like Dan, it's hard for me to narrow it down to just one vehicle.

First, the over-the-top sports car ...

The Tesla Roadster.

I'm very happy to hear that! It sounds like an excellent match with what you need and want a car for, and one can't ask for much more than that.

What, nothing on my family history or artistic efforts? :>)

I'm sorry. I was blinded by the several sexy convertibles and my mid-life crisis. LOL

As for the pics, I'm really taken with several of them. Probably the 2nd, 5th and 7th from the bottom are the ones that capture me most. Especially 5th. I do love the stories your pics tell, and they are improving (not that I thought they needed it but I see your skill more and more).

Rodney: Thank you for mentioning the "story"/narrative aspect. It's really important to me that my photos meet that standard if at all possible.

I know I have a good enough eye and sensibility to create a pretty photo ... and there's nothing wrong with that. I like pretty things at least as much as the next person. But "the story" is always my goal.

On this road trip - lots of landscapes - it drove me a little batty, as for me they're a real challenge in that regard. Photo #2 in "The Drive" is the only one in that vein that I'm really satisfied with.

As an example of where my head is at: In the "Mission" album, I deliberately processed all the photos in either b/w or 'Kodachrome'-like color to tie into my personal narrative of the Mission as being part of the past. Period.

Mark - Thanks for the updated pic of the Model S. I can see the Mazda influence here; not so much in the Roadster but it's a Lotus body to start with.

I've been enjoying your travels via your photos!

fwiw, the gold/black seems to be the classic combination for this vintage Cougar. It was featured in the catalog of the time:

Neil: Am glad to hear you like that one; it's one of my favorites as well. As you said, it would translate well to wall or photomural size. :)
