Has anyone noticed how poorly blondes are written in the Harry Potter Series? Has anyone noticed that beautiful people are also written as snobs or otherwise undesirable people? No ( Read more... )

yep, im back to have my 2 cents again. I feel like im always here, hope you dont mind.

You raise a really interesting point, Id never looked at it this way before.

Wanting to be a psychologist i fond all your opinions fasinating, I mean i get females points of veiw on Harry Potter all the time, yet the male, not so much so.

I have to agree with everything, except the tag along sister part. I think Ginnys really grown into her character, shes a nice enough, if not slighly shy/awkward, girl. She athletic~ played seeker for awhile there, and I think once she got over the whole harry thing, shes kinda fun and spunky.

but then I do love Ginny most of all the characters after Snape.

Anyways like i said, you've given me something to think about ^_^ E.

You'll be hard pressed to find many men who like Ginny as fiercely as female readers do. Make no mistake, I do like Ginny and would gladly see her more in the books and the movies. But I think that females love her so much because female readers can identify with either Ginny or Hermione. Some fangirls even go so far as to Hermione-Sue and Ginny-Sue themselves in fanfics ( ... )

Yay! I agree completely. I'm sorry, but I just can't really get into a book if the heroines are all unappealing dorkuses (as you said "nagging female friends, weirdo airheads and/or tagalong kid sisters"). I'm sorry if I sounds like a cliquey preppy wannabe but it's true. I know that one major reason the HP series is so popular because the heroes/heroines (Harry, Hermione, and Ron) are all rather nerdy, ordinary-seeming kids but I think J.K. is overdoing it--she's trying to make the more conventionally attractive, more socially accepted people (like Cho or Fleur) sound like stuck up drama queens.

Yaay! It's so good to see that great minds think alike! No, you don't sound at all like a preppy wannabe, you sound very intelligent. JK is definitely overdoing it to tbe point of it getting almost unbelievable at times. Bashing pretty people in the books sucks too as I married none of the most pretty girls in real life. Had to fight off a lot of other guys for her heart, but I got it. I really don't like how JK writes all the beautiful people badly.
