Be Glad it's not men who menstruate

I noticed a thread taking place a few days ago about whether Emma joined the ranks of of females who are potential lifebearers. Yes I like to think of it as a good thing, as unpleasant as it might be, after all I've loaned out my jacket to female classmates when they had red stains ( Read more... )

wow, u no, u have to be one of the strangest guys ive eva met, and i mean that in a really good way.
Most guys would never even go near the topic of periods and all the guys I went to school with would most likely tease a chick about having a "red stain" or be way to embarrased to draw attention to it by offering a jacket

Nice to see someone mature enuf to get ova these things and even be able to sympathsise, and joke about the whole thing.

Also on the whole minority ethnic groups in Harry Potter I couldnt agree with u more, But i think very few books ever really explore different ethnic groups as such, except for authors like Wilbur Smith,(then Ive only read 4 or 5 of his books) but then he usualyy makes other ethnic groups the 'badies' as opposed to the heroic white man...maybe I'm just ranting again lol

Anyho, Ill shut up now cuz ur prolly sick of me and all my comments ^_^ erskie.

P.S I always get sortted into slytherin as well

I'd never tease a girl for a red stain because I guess the way I learned about it was terrifying. I thought my best friend's big sister was mortally wounded. Now sympathy has replaced fear in regards to it.

Well I think if minorities are to be portrayed at all in stories, I think it's up to the author to learn as much about the character's culture in order to do them justice. Otherwise, JKR should have made a positive Asian character(put her in Luna's place or something) and made Cho white so there would be no racial stereotyping on the part of the readers. Making the lone Asian character bad was in poor taste in my opinion.

And no, I'm not sick of your comments. I like hearing what people think about things. Yes! Another Slytherin! I guess we're good people after all. Wouldn't it be fun if we really were in Slytherin? Imagine all the havoc we could wreak on Snape!

I'm sorry, I just can't leave your journal. I respect you more and more. It's a rarity to find someone of your character. Honestly, men flee from the subject. I say one of god's worst mistakes was menstruation. Just horrible, I'm amazed you actually understand and sympathize. ^.^

I'm terribly sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I didn't see this post until this day. I am pleased that you find my journal interesting, and you have my respect as well.

Yes, I've often wondered why humans menstruate at all. After all, most other mammalians do not, and it seems a high price on one's body. I feel ever so sorry for my wife when it's her time of the month, for it seems quite unpleasant and she becomes tired easily. I try to make it easier for her by massaging her back, churning ice cream and purchasing filet mignon...but alas those measures seem to only ease the discomfort only slightly.

Oh yes, I do sympathize...well as much as a man can anyway. The first time I saw it, I thought the poor girl was dying.
