Wow! Awesome birth story, awesome birth! You are AMAZING!
I have some questions...like how long did the whole thing take? And where was E? How did he feel about things? My friend whose birth I attended for her 6th child brought all 5 others to the hospital and she said it helped her with the birth because she felt she had to not express her pain too much, but for me, I'm all about the yelling and wouldn't want to be guilty the whole time about it.) And is there a story behind Matthew's name? Did you have back labor or was it all uterine-contraction pain? (You can obviously ignore me if these qus are too personal, I'm just fascinated by home births.) Nipple stimulation worked for me too, (it was the doula's idea) to speed things up halfway through, but not so much the twiddling as using the breast pump, and it REALLY got things going.
It is SO COOL you could take care of the GBS thing while at home, and then not have to have the IV in the whole time, I could really have done without that.
So great! Thank you for sharing! I love the baby carrots part! I imagine my husband will brew some coffee at some point (he lives on it), so I hope I don't hate the smell while in labor!
