Yesterday, as I was driving home from work between towns, a large truck hauling rubbish lost a piece of it along the road. A pipe, about three feet long and bent in two places fell off the left side into the opposite lane. I may not have if it'd hadn't been for an incident I witnessed while driving through Michigan a number of years back. There was a tailpipe or soemthing simliar lying in the middle of a rural but busy stretch of interstate. I avoided it, but the SUV behind me hit it with their tire. The pipe was whipped up into the air, spinning end over end and struck another car in the windshield. It filled the glass with a network of spiderweb cracks.
