I have now three times made the mistake of assuming potential friend status with someone who is just being friendly. Amazingly, it has been with the same person each time. This may be age-related -- part of the developmental stage we're in... and yes, related to experiencing loss. It's been happening to me for some years now, too -- and all the more so since I got a Facebook account -- I'm running into people from all parts of my past! and for the most part happy about it.

I too have found that the initial "reunion" doesn't always turn into anything sustained. Interesting.

My son was the biggest thing that kept me together during the worst of the grief phase. Had to get him up and off to school each day, and fed each evening. Even if I went right back to bed, the fact that we were at the end of the driveway in time for the bus counted as a daily victory.

I have been thinking about old friends but have not so far made any effort to re-connect with them.
