I was nodding furiously all the way through this. You articulate a lot of the reasons why I love this ship so much. Those who deny that Buffy loved Spike or that Spike loved Buffy are seriously watching a completely different show, imo. The journey that they went through together and apart is incredible and it gives me chills when I compare how they were in the early seasons to what they became in the later ones. You are definitely right that great love is about acceptance of the other person in all of their light and dark. That is Buffy/Spike in a nutshell ♥
