I was listening to a podcast earlier today (The Catholics Next Door) and one of the guests was a priest who used to be a lawyer.
The host of the show asks, "So how does one go from being a lawyer to a priest?"
The priest pauses a moment and then replies, "Well, first was Confession."

CT Bill 1098
The Connecticut Legislature recently introduced a bill to reorganize the governance structure of the Catholic Church. Professor Douglas Laycock, a law professor at the University of Michigan, wrote a letter (co-signed by many other eminent law professors) addressing the unconstitutionality of such a law, and it's worth a read ( Read more... ) -
North Dakota's Personhood Amendment
I’ve been reading about North Dakota’s “personhood amendment” lately - specifically, H.B. 1572 - which passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 51-41 on 2/17/2009.
