Summary: The team decide its time to join the real word, but Ianto doesn't seem to think a date night is the way to do it

Ianto stood in one of the archive rooms and flipped through the paperwork on his clipboard as he looked up at all the neatly stacked boxes. He heard the door close and turned around to see Jack leaning against it before going back to his work.

Jack leaned back against the door and watched Ianto at work as he did his daily check on the archive, licking his lips at the sight of the younger man concentrating so avidly on the cardboard mass in front of him.

“Do you want something, sir, or are you going to stand there all day?” Ianto asked after a while.

“I'm just enjoying the view.” Jack smiled and walked towards him, closing the gap until they stood about a foot apart, “it would be even better if you checked the boxes on the bottom shelf.”

“Do I even need to remind you of the sexual harassment policy?”

“You can remind me of it but I don't see the point because i'm just going to do it anyway.”

“I thought as much.”

“I was just wondering if you were venturing out into the real world tonight and going to Gwen's little bowling soiree?” Jack asked, sighing as he rested against the shelf, “y'know, she can be really annoying when she's pushy.”

“Who else is going?”

“Gwen and Rhys--”

“--Of course--”

“--Owen and some girl called Sarah, Tosh and her mystery guy and little lonely me.” Jack pouted. “So are you going to join us and save me from having to kill myself.”

“No.” Ianto shook his head and went back to his work.

“Why not?”

“Because it sounds awfully like a date night to me.”

“So?”

“I don't have a date,” he reminded him, “I'm not going to be the spare wheel any more Jack. No, I would rather relax with a nice bottle of wine, some crappy telly and some chips.”

“Actually, I was going to suggest that we go together,” he said, looking at Ianto expectantly, “it could be fun.”

Ianto paused and crossed him arms, holding his clipboard against his chest. He eyed Jack suspiciously. “Did you just ask me out?”

“Yes I did.”

“I see.”

Ianto unfolded his arms and looked up at the boxes, continuing to work again. The other man watched him for a moment before taking the clipboard away from him and placing it on the shelf.

“Well?” he prompted.

“Well what?”

“When someone asks you out, you generally do one of two things; shoot them down in flames or accept the invitation.”

“I can't.”

“Why not?” he asked, “is it because I'm your boss or because you don't find me physically attractive?”

“Neither; I just don't appreciate a pity date.”

“It's not a pity date,” Jack said, “I'm a little insulted that you would think that I would do that to you.”

“Then why?”

“Because I like your ass!” Jack said a little too loudly and Ianto chuckled, raising his eyebrow, “you have a very nice pert ass and I would like to have the pleasure of taking it out for an evening.”

“So it's just my arse that you want, is it?”

“No.” Jack smiled and moved a little closer to him, locking his gaze onto Ianto's eyes, “you have cheekbones that could cut diamonds, lips that I spent most of the day wanting to bite off, eyes that I could fall into if I didn't actively stop myself and that's not even mentioning the fact that every time I hear you speak I have extremely filthy thoughts about other things your mouth could be doing other than speaking.”

“Jack!” Ianto chuckled.

“You asked,” Jack said, “so?”

“Fine,” he sighed, taking his clipboard back and heading for the door, “I'll go.”

“Great.”

“Pick me up at seven thirty, and dress nice.”
