it may be where users are forwarding livejournal.com to certain domains.

The domain recipient may chose to ignore forwards. Mac.com tends to go back and forth on how it feels receiving auto-forwards from lj.com.

So.. the issue may not be LJ so much as it may be individual domains.

Well, I'm a permanent user so I doubt it's the paid status. I guess it's mac.com (and possibly other domains as well, as I've had the problem sending to others too, who I'm sure are not *all* on .mac....)
