Out of curiosity, is there a timeline for the completion of the Horus Heresy series? When I started reading them I had no idea they were going to stretch to fill up quite so much bookshelf space. And I have been wondering lately if there is any chance of it ever coming to a conclusion?

It would be quite nice to have the main story moving along a bit faster. And then finishing. And then I'd be quite happy to go back and read books telling stories about the off-shoots. But I do feel like it would be nice to... at least feel as if the end is in sight. :)

As has been said often before, by me and other writers/editors on the Horus Heresy team, there is no great timeline document laying out how many books/audios/short stories/etc there will be in the series.

As for "moving faster", the core books are advancing the story with every release.

Yes, the Horus Heresy *will* come to an end. But don't hold your breath waiting. We're not going to milk it ad infinitum, but also we're not going to end it quickly. There are a lot of cool stories to tell and we'd be remiss if we didn't tell them. We've passed the 50+ stories mark recently, and it wouldn't surprise me if we hit double than number before we're done (but that's just my personal opinion, not word from on high at BL). We'll make the trip worthwhile.

That's interesting to know, thank you.

I assume BL have mechanisms to measure if and when reader fatigue starts to become an issue?

That would be the sales figures.
