Highlander & Stargate audio drama news

May 08, 2010 18:53

The May podcast is up over at the Big Finish Productions website (download it from Here) and among the in-office hi-jinks, there's a couple of points of news on projects I'm working on as story editor...

Paul Spragg, producer on series two and three of the Highlander and Stargate audio dramas, respectively, can be heard at the 22:20 and 28:14 discussing the forthcoming releases, but here's the high points...

The Highlander audios are a four-part miniseries of linked episodic stories featuring the characters of the Four Horsemen (first seen in the TV series episodes 'Comes A Horseman' and 'Revelation 6:8'). Each story centres on one of the Horsemen, telling an untold tale from their past and pitting them against a most lethal enemy. Actors Valentine Pelka, Peter Wingfield, Richard Ridings and Marcus Testory will be reprising their roles as Kronos, Methos, Silas and Caspian.

The scripts are brilliant, action-packed stuff from the pens of novelist and audio writer Scott Andrews and Torchwood and Doctor Who scriptwriter James Moran. Release dates are to be confirmed.

The third series of Stargate audios are moving from the 'narrated' style of the first two series to full cast dramas. All six episodes will be Stargate SG-1 stories, featuring the characters of Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) and Vala Mal Doran (Claudia Black) as the leads. The series will comprise of two three-part episodic arcs, the first of which will guest star Cliff Simon, reprising his role as the Goa'uld System Lord Ba'al.

I'm writing episode one (entitled Half Life) as well as story editing, and - as mentioned in more detail downblog Here - joining me are writers Sally Malcolm, Steve Lyons, Peter J. Evans, Richard Dinnick and Sharon Gosling. We're hoping to release episode one sometime in Q3 of 2010.
