We got back last night from spending a fantastic 8 days in the Isle of Man. It is such a beautiful place, and I could go on for ages about the incredible variety of things to see and do in such a small place - wonderful sea views, mountains, historical sites etc. The pace of life there is perfect for a relaxed holiday - for example, to travel ( Read more... )

Oh, you should. You'd adore the railways. And if you need any recommendations of things to do/places to stay, or even a travelling companion..

Yes, I must re-read The School on North Barrule now that I can follow along with the locations. Do you have my copy at the moment? By coincidence I re-read Swallowdale while I was there, and they get the same scenery in reverse, of course - there's that lovely scene where they climb the Old Man of Coniston (aka Kanchenjunga) and see the Isle of Man in the distance.
