Random whining

Registration for #RWA11 opened today, and it seemed like everyone on my Twitter feed was registering and booking their hotel room or debating registering. I felt all D: because I'm not going. I don't actually care about the conference, per se: I'm not a writer or an aspiring writer so a lot of the workshops aren't relevant to me except in an ( Read more... )

RWA is totally about hanging out in the bar. Come up for a day, meet us all! Or even better, come up for IASPR (Sunday-Tuesday), then stay for Literacy signing (Tuesday), then go home. That way you get to meet us all anyway! :)

That's a possibility.

Is RWA early this year? For some reason, I thought it was usually at the end of the second week of July.

I think it's usually later than that actually. Yes, it's early. Marriott NYC is undergoing renovations at end of July. After San Francisco fiasco (I think), RWA decided to move time when informed of renovations, rather than try to put up with them.

And it's Tues-Fri, rather than Wed-Sat.

Looking at the calendar, RWA would be impossible for me based on the dates - bad time of year at the office. I might be able to away with Monday and maybe Tuesday, but not Tuesday through Friday. Must fiddle with vacation time and budget.

Go to IASPR!

I am planning to go to that. I can buy you a drink and you can tell me what m/m to buy.

:) I'm being tempted into IASPR's conference. Hadn't really thought about it seriously before, since I'm not an academic person.

I'm not academic now, though I did do some grad work. I'm just interested!

I'd love to go too, but I can't afford it. Bugger.

The cost is an issue, yeah. It was fun when it was in DC but the bang for buck ratio was a little off for me. I might feel different if I were an aspiring writer.

I'm waiting to see what the registration fee will be for IASPR. Then I'll decide. Because it's not like I *need* to go to NYC in June.
