As I read it, I didn't really *think* about the characters (except the bagels & locket friend, who was just...wrong). I was wrapped up in Maddy regaining her equilibrium; it wasn't until I finished the book and tried to write a short summary for my reading journal that all of the things that bothered me a little as I read coalesced into one big lump of Ick.

This book didn't work for me, but I would probably try Barrett's other book. Not buy, though.
