Randumb things

Starting to settle into the house. I went through a brief period where I was dreaming about moving into a house over and over (each time the house was different, sometimes there were roommates sometimes there weren't.) I still have a bunch of minor home project things to do, but things are finally starting to calm down ( Read more... )

My neighbor moved in, removed ugly ass curtains, and temporarily hung a Confederate flag in the bedroom window that faces my house. Five years later, it's still there, albeit faded. He chuckles at my trendy and expensive Shangri-La shades.

Sketch out a floor plan on MS Paint and then take some pics of the rooms. I'll try to get free advice from the frau.

Oh, and tell me what kind of styles you like (contemporary, country, craftsman, really modern / contemporary, etc) if you know.

Damn you s'punk! The only time I actually want to chat with you and goddamn Raytheon blocks ya! I actually have a scenario in mind, but I need a professional opinions. The females I know in my life say 'no' (Brandumbs wife and Rushie and I think Angelbaby wasn't too keen of) but I know one female in real life that said yes and my mom did too.

Help me Obi-wan you're my only hope.

Seriously, those are good first choices for removal smash. I'd say given the kind of decor you discussed you were interested in, a basic venetian blind would be fine. DO you like vertical ones or horizontal ones? I would avoid the thin banded variety in favor of thicker ones, and I would avoid the vertical personally in favor of horizontal (sorta like the ones in our kitchen but maybe more stylish since they are going in your living room and bedroom)..

You might want to check out Roman blinds, too. I prefer them over Venetian, but like Grymm said, it's all based on what style of decor you want.

Whatever you go with, there are typically "quickie blinds" type places all over. Two that I know of are Next-Day-Blinds and Blinds-To-Go.

Oh, and the most bang-for-the-buck you can ever do inside a house is to simply paint. Don't be afraid of color -- too many people stick with white walls because they think anything else is "too dark". Buy a pint of whatever colors you want and paint a good sized square in the room. Then live with it for a week and see how you like it.

What are roman blinds? Also both the bedroom, the front room and the big kitchen windows are wide (at least 78 inches in each case i think) which forces me out of buying horizontal blinds in favor of vertical (at least from Home Depot). I prefer horizontal, but in all cases vertical also enables Oreo to climb into windows easier.

Are there CHEAP blind solutions available? All the speciality blind stores are mad expensive aren't they?
