A brisk knock at the door put Cara on alert, her gaze falling to Kahlan who was once again at Ethan’s side.  The crimson marks were back and covered not only his chest and belly, but his arms and legs too.  They could hear Sergeant Duff through the door, “He’s coming, Lord Rahl has returned!”

I know what you mean. Sometimes I think of something and it just has to be written.

This is going to be so painful for them to get through but I know they can do it. What I'm afraid of though is Kahlan being afraid of getting pregnant again for fear of going through this heartbreak all over again.

OMG Nooo Ethan died i was soo sure the Quillion
would have worked on him it's amazing how much
power he had that not even the quillion could help him..how sad for R/K =(

I loved this..you can really feel in those lines the sadnes Richard was feeling..the love and longing Richard had for his son of the dreams he didn't get to see

Bawwwww, their bb is all dead now. :( R and K are so powerful on their own, together, little Ethan didn't stand a chance.

I don't think he'll be coming back...they will have to work on having girls. ;)

I think that is my favourite chapter of any of your fics! soooo emotional. and you still portrayed R&K and Cara PERFECTLY.
Cant wait for the R&K tender/comforting moments that are sure to come!!!

HOLY SUPER-POWERFUL SEEKER BABY!!! That was so heart-wrenching!! You did an amazing job with it, capturing all the emotion and pain.

I don't even know where to begin quoting...can I just quote the whole thing??

Richard went to her side, pulling her head against his shoulder to comfort her, and she gratefully collapsed against him. She had stayed strong for so long, she needed to let go. “It’s alright, Kahlan” he whispered, holding her tight. She held Ethan in one arm, clinging to him with the other. After a brief moment she loosened her hold to caress his face. She cupped her hand over the thick scruff of his whiskers, her eyes conveying what words could not. She had been so afraid for him, of what Shota might do; afraid he wouldn’t return in time to save their son. “I’m here now” he said softly as if reading her mind. “And I have the Quillion.” She cried harder then, as relief filled her.

*GAH!!*

He knew, the instant before he heard her agonizing cry: he knew. Kahlan’s mournful howl sent him to his knees, piercing
