First off, yes indeed, I am another year older as of yesterday. We had a great, if somewhat low key celebration, spread out over the Easter long weekend. The coolest gift was a new telescope from my sister - it's smaller than "the big guy" I've had for several years now, but a lot easier to set up when I'm only going out for an hour or two

Uh, I just read the post... I want to say you were dumb to put your life at risk like that, but I know I would have done exactly the same thing. At least you and the doggie are well and fine now!

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling sheepish at getting myself in the mess, but proud of getting us out. Can't believe how sleepy I am still though!

I feel like yelling at you for putting your life in danger, but I'm just glad that you're both okay. I've heard so many stories of people who went into frozen lakes to retrieve their pets, only to lose their lives themselves.

Again, I'm just thankful you're both okay, but DAYUM, Jen - that was scary!!! :-/

Thanks! I thought the water would be shallower if I went in, since I was quite close to shore. In the bottom picture, taken the day after, you can still see the jagged area where I got out. The place where I went in had refrozen by then.

I still get cold spikes even a week later - my body's thermostat is a bit out of whack.

And thanks again! I was so worried for Caesar because he's getting pretty old but, thankfully he's perfectly fine. I wish I'd taken a picture of him afterwards because he was so curly after trying to shake himself dry!
