Boring Post About Me

Hi all! Sorry I haven't been in touch much lately. I made the big decision about a month ago to sell my condo in Toronto and move to the countryside to be closer to family and old friends. It's going to be quite a change!

In order to get the house ready for the market, I've spent the last month de-cluttering and cleaning and painting and cleaning ( Read more... )

Moving is such a hassle. Preparing to move is even more so and you have my sympathies!

Can't see the MLS listing for some reason but good luck on the sale. Toronto's still a pretty hot market, I know from my aunt selling her semi-detached just last year.

Where in the countryside are you heading? I'm so far north of the city that it most of southern and central Ontario seems GTA to me.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm not looking forward to the move but at least I've already done a lot of the work - emptying the bookcases and most of the china for example.

Hmmm, I wonder if they change the URL periodically at MLS for some reason or if I made a copy/paste error. Does this link work? http://www.realtor.ca/PropertyDetails.aspx?&PropertyId=9799703&PidKey=-808053324

I'm moving to Smiths Falls, about 45 minutes from Ottawa. We grew up around there and my sister teaches there so it makes sense - for the short term at least.

The second link worked fine. I remember that neighbourhood in T.O. (since I used to work at Victoria College while I was a grad student).

Good luck with the move -- I expect you'll be on your way back to the home town area soon enough!

Moving is a pain. I remember those times and don't ever want to do it again. Hopefully it'll be a smooth process for you.

Yeah, moving is no fun. Fortunately, I can afford to pay for movers instead of having to use family and friends like back in my college days!

Moving sucks. I hope it all goes well though and you get the place you want when you get back to the country *HUGS*

Moving isn't my favorite thing in the world, but the implications are exciting - setting up somewhere new, being nearer to family, reliving childhood memories - so I'm more happy for you than anything else. I hope the rest of the move goes smoothly, and that your new life is everything you are hoping it to be. Good luck.

Yes, I'm generally pretty happy about it. I'll miss parts of living in Toronto but there will be lots of other stuff to compensate.

That's so exciting! A new home, a fresh start, the beginning of your next adventure! Moving is cathartic, too, as you go through all your stuff and streamline your life, leaving old baggage, both physical and emotional, behind. And it's always nice to be near those you love. I'm glad you have a healthy real estate market; where I live prices are way down, and people are struggling to sell. Good luck with everything!
