Finch is one of my favorie reads of all time. Vandermeer took my two favorite genres and squished them into fungi goodness.

Finch was impressive, but the hard-boiled staccato narrational style actually turned me off. It kept throwing me out of the narrative. I still consider Shriek: An Afterword VanderMeer's best work.
