When Yuto came back, Airi was already there waiting for him.

“Did you end it with Suzuka?” Airi immediately asked.

“Yes,” Yuto softly said and looked away.

“Yay~” Airi said happily and held Yuto’s hand. “Now we can be happy! I can’t wait to tell the ruler about our big news!”

“You will keep your promise, right?” Yuto looked at Airi seriously. “You won’t see Suzuka again, and you will never hurt her and not tell the ruler about it.”

“Even though I’m this horrible, I still keep my promises,” Airi replied as seriously. “A moon’s promise, I used it. So during the time you ended it with Suzuka, I could never come near her again.”

“Who’s Suzuka?” a spectator suddenly said. Both Airi and Yuto looked at the door.

“Keito,” Yuto sadly looked at his best friend. He didn’t want to keep it as a secret from him and now that Keito heard Suzuka’s name, he will definitely asked who Suzuka is. “She’s-“

“She’s what? I never saw or heard of a moon named Suzuka,” Keito approached his best friend.

“Why are you so worried about her? And why did Airi use a moon’s promise just for you not to see her?!”

“Keito, calm down,” Airi said and held Keito’s arm.

“I can’t Airi!” Keito pushed away Airi’s hand. It was the first time Airi saw Keito like this. “I thought I was your best friend? Why are you keeping secrets from me?”

“Suzuka is a human, a mortal I met on Earth,” Yuto explained to Keito on how he met Suzuka and fell in love with her. “Airi begged me to end it with Suzuka in exchange of not telling the ruler about it. That’s all.”

Yuto never added the part where Airi blackmailed him so that he would end it with Suzuka. That’s because Yuto did not want Keito to see Airi just like how Yuto sees her. It’s enough that Keito loves Airi; he doesn’t need to know about the bad things about her.

“So that’s the reason why you were always going to Earth,” Keito said after listening to Yuto’s story. “You were cheating.”

“I’m not,” Yuto said and looked away. “Because I never loved Airi. So I was not cheating.”

“Can we not talk about that? It’s already over between them,” Airi approached Keito. “Don’t worry Keito, Yuto would never do that again. That’s because we’re getting married soon.”

“Getting married?” Keito was surprised once again. He looked at Yuto but Yuto just covered his face with his bangs. “When did you both decide that?”

“Yesterday,” Airi answered. She then comforted Keito as she felt a bit guilty on always taking advantage of Keito’s feelings. “I’m going to be happy with him. So don’t worry.”

“I’m not,” was all Keito reply and pulled away from Airi’s comfort. Airi never knew what he meant by ‘I’m not’. Only Yuto understood what Keito meant - he was not happy because Yuto and Airi were getting married.

After that, Keito left without a word to both of them. Keito was feeling regret, betrayal and pain in his heart.

“You should change before meeting the ruler,” Airi said to Yuto and pulled him to his room.

“I don’t need to,” Yuto said to her.

“If you won’t change then I’ll strip those clothes off you,” Airi said and started to take Yuto’s clothes off without hesitation. As she took off Yuto’s shirt, she saw something that made her eyes widen.

“I never expected you to use the moon’s promise but I’m a bit happy you did,” Yuto touched the mark on his chest. It was the mark that would link Suzuka and him together. “I never intended to lose to you.”

“How dare you give it to her?!” Airi burst out in anger. “That was supposed to be my mark! That’s mine! You’re mine!”

“I told you I can bend the rules,” Yuto said to Airi that made her slap him hard. “Whatever you do, this mark would never be yours.”

“What’s happening here?” the ruler heard Airi’s voice inside Yuto’s room so he decided to see what was happening.

As he entered Yuto’s room, he saw the scene was a bit bad. Yuto’s cheeks were red because of Airi’s slap and he saw what Yuto had on his chest.

“Have you forgotten that you should only give your mark to Airi after marriage?” the ruler said to him. Yuto never answered and did not look at the ruler. “Yuto!”

“He didn’t give to me!” Airi said crying. “He gave it to someone else!”

“Shut up!” Yuto said to her as Airi continued to tell the ruler about Suzuka and him. He suddenly got scared of what the ruler might do to Suzuka.

“He gave it to a human! A mortal!” Airi said and hugged the ruler. “He gave his mark to someone else. He betrayed me with a mortal.”

The ruler’s eyes were furious as he looked at Yuto.

“Who is she?” the ruler asked Yuto.

“No one!” Yuto said as his heart beat faster.

“Her name’s Ohgo Suzuka, I can show you where they met,” Airi pushed on. “You will take the mark out of her won’t you?”

“No!” Yuto protested then. “I won’t let you kill her. If you kill her, you kill me because we are linked together.”

“You must have gotten it wrong Yuto,” Airi said to him. “Yes, it is true that when two moons are linked together, when one of those moons dies, the other dies as well.”

“But if I’m the one who will kill her, that rule would not apply,” the ruler then said as he patted Airi’s head.

“See, I still won,” Airi said to Yuto as he sat on the floor.

“Please, please don’t hurt her,” Yuto begged the ruler then. “I’ll marry Airi even if she doesn’t have my mark. I’ll still marry her.”

“I don’t believe you,” Airi said glaring at Yuto. “Just as I thought, it’s better if she disappeared in your life for good and death is the only way.”

“I won’t hurt her Yuto,” the ruler said that made Airi’s eyes widen in shock.

“Eh?!” Airi then said surprised. “Why?”

“I need to confirm something first. So don’t worry, for one and a half months she will not be harmed, not by me and not by anyone. That means you can’t hurt her as well Airi.”

“Why is that?” Airi complained about what the ruler decided. “Why not kill her now so that I can get Yuto’s mark and be married to him? Why do we need to wait for one and a half month?!”

“There is a reason why a moon should only give his mark after marriage,” the ruler said and started to leave the room without explaining any further. “You would be confined in here until then. You will still do your job as the moon of the Earth but everything you do is under surveillance.”

The ruler then left Yuto’s room. He wanted to take some fresh air.

“Everything is too similar,” the ruler said to himself as he walked faster. “Why did my heir do something like this? Why does history repeat itself?”

He then took a deep breath as a girl in his memories appeared again after not seeing or remembering her for hundreds of years.

During that time, inside Yuto’s room, there was deep silence. Yuto had a bit of relief as Suzuka won’t be harmed, at least for the time being.

“You heard what the ruler said,” Yuto then started to speak to Airi who was still shocked with the ruler’s decision.

“Ahhh!!!” Airi screamed. “I’m not the loser yet. After one and a half month--”

“You can’t,” Yuto cut off what Airi wanted to say. “You did the moon’s promise. Once you break it, even though you’re an immortal, you will die.”

“No way,” Airi said at once. No one told her about the consequence of a moon’s promise. “You’re lying! You just want me to get scared so that I won’t hurt her.”

“It’s the truth. There is a reason why you should consult the ruler first before giving a moon’s promise,” Yuto said. Jun told him about this, about the real story of the Moon’s promise. “You can confirm it with the ruler if you want but I’m not lying. As much as I hate you, I don’t want you to die Airi. I don’t want the one who my best friend loves to die.”

Airi could only clench her fist as Yuto said those words. She already knew that Keito loved her but she hated to hear that the only reason Yuto did not want her to die was because of Keito.
