I’m now going to the church where my best friend will be getting married.

I took a deep breath, and head inside the church.
Everyone was looking at me while I pass through them, I smile and bow to them as I pass as a sign of
respect.
Every step I take on this stairs makes me feel heavier every time. It is like I’m having 2 tons of weigh every step.
I finally saw who I’m looking for. She look to where I stand, I stop and wave at her.
“Ryosuke!” she said to me, she went down the stairs and met me half way.
“Suzuka, sorry I’m late.” She just looks at me and smiles.
“No, it’s okay.” It was a good thing that she was there, she makes me feel calm. Many people are staring at us.
“Do you want to see her?” Suzuka ask me. I thought for a moment then I gave her a small nod.
She guided me to where the bride’s room is.
I knock lightly on the door. Many different feelings are sinking in all at once unto me.
“Come in.” I heard a voice said. I hold the door knob; I was hesitating to open it.
I breathe hardly. Then I opened the door.
“Excuse me for intruding.” I told her, I know she recognize my voice.
“Ryosuke, why are you here?” I scratch my head and smiles at her.
“I just want to see the bride before she gets married.” She looks at me. As she did that flashback of how we became friends started flowing in my memories.

I was only 13 years old when we first met. I’m already a junior’s in Johnny’s at that time.
I audition on a special drama and luckily I got the role of Amakusa Ryu of Tantei Gakuen Q. There at that drama we became close friends along with Kamiki. All three of us are close friends with each other.
She is my best friend. One year after the special drama TBS produce a drama of it. We became even closer with each other because of that.
“Mi-chan, after this drama we’ll still be close right?” I gave her a nickname that only I can call her.
“Of course Ryo-chan! We’ll forever be bestfriends!” Mirai told me.
“Mi-chan, promise me that you’ll go to Horikoshi with me okay?” Mirai smiles and give me a thumbs up.
“I’m a little worried about that Ryo-chan. What if they found out about us loving each other? You’re agency I mean.” We weren’t just best friends. Secretly we both know we love each other, and we intend to stay like that forever.
“That’s not going to happen Mi-chan! We will forever be together, and when I’m allowed to have a girlfriend I’ll immediately tell it to the agency.” I love her, and she loves me. “ne, Mi-chan let’s go to high school together.”
“Umm-“ she nodded and smile at me.
During that time we didn’t know that many things would come in the way of us loving each other.
When we entered Horikoshi Gakuen, we learned that we still can’t be together because of the rules implied in there. We rarely be together after school because of our works, and I have a new drama that we are shooting and so does she, seeing each other even in weekends are impossible for us.
I was in a dilemma on what I should do. Chinen suggested to me that I should make up a disguise so that we can go out like normal people.
“Mi-chan,” I whispered to her. “Do you want to go out after school ends tomorrow?”
“Eh?!!” Mirai tried to lower her voice, but as always she said it out loud. “We’ll get caught!”
“I have a plan, well actually it was Chi’s plan but I think it might work.” I told her, I look around and saw
Chinen, I pronounce ‘arigatou’ to him as he look at me. “So just follow me okay? And we will not be caught I promise!”
“Eh?! What are you guys up to?” to my surprise it was Mariya who said that.
“Why are you eaves dropping?” Mirai said a little bit irritated but Mariya just laugh it off.
“I think it was a good thing that I eaves drop, because I have the perfect disguise for you Mirai-chan. It will surely work Ryo-chan I promise.” Mariya beamed her smile to her, Mariya love teasing Mirai when it comes to me. Maybe it was my fault as well, ever since I told a magazine about my fetish with legs Mirai would always get jealous of the girls I’m close to that have long legs.
“I do trust you Mariya-chan. Thanks.” With that Mariya left us.
“Mariya-chan? Hmmm-“ Mirai was frowning.
“What?” I asked her, I better not talk to Mariya for the next 5 hours or else Mirai would get even mad.
“I’m the one who gave you that nickname! Why is Mariya using it to call you as well?” I love it when she acts
spoiled from time to time. I know I love her boyish side more but seeing her get jealous and wants to get spoiled is something rare to see. “Why are you just smiling there?! I won’t talk to you!”
“Eh?!! Wait Mirai, come on!” Mirai stood up from her seat and went to Suzuka right away. “Ne, Mirai I was just thinking that you’re cute. That’s why I’m smiling. And you know Mariya, she loves teasing you. That’s why she called me Ryo-chan awhile ago.”
I tried explaining to her until that afternoon but then I got piss off at our last subject when she suddenly clung to Kamiki like there’s no tomorrow.
I glared at Kamiki that whole time.
“Yama-chan, If looking at people can kill, Kamiki is already on the floor seconds after Mirai clung unto him.” It was Chinen who said that. I know Kamiki is not at fault here, he even give apologetic gestures to me but I
can’t stop glaring at him.
The class ended but I have to stay awhile longer because Mirai and I are both the discipline chairman of the class.
“Ne, Ryo-chan our date tomorrow what’s your plan again?” She suddenly said.
“Ow? So that’s still on? I thought you already forgotten about that, since you clung to Kamiki so hard, I thought he’s the one you want to have a date with tomorrow!” It came out a bit harsh, but who can blame me I was pissed off.
“At least you felt what I felt when Mariya is teasing me.” She back fired. “So what’s your plan tomorrow?”
“Just wait okay? I’ll show you what I planned tomorrow.” With that we made peace with each other and went home.

The next day went by fast, it’s already our last class and after this me and Mirai will be on our date.
Mariya had given me the disguise that she was talking about, I wasn’t sure if Mirai would bear that kind of disguise but I would work perfectly and no one would ever recognize her.
“Ryo-chan, you know I hate heels! And If I disguise like this I would look like Mariya!” Mirai said after our last sensei of the day left the classroom. “Do you plan on giving hints on your fans that you like girls like Mariya?”
“Of course not!” It was a bit loud, I saw Mariya glared at me a bit. “No offense Mariya-chan. Anyways, it is a perfect disguise for you, it’s the total opposite of you.”
We argued a bit before she gave up and wore the disguise.
We went and have a normal date that day. I surprise her when we went to a jewelry shop.
‘a promise ring’ I said when I bought a pair of ring for us. She even decided to buy Suzuka the same ring that we have. At first I didn’t agree but she said ‘it’s for an alibi’ and with that I said yes.
It was a great day for us. No one recognize her, and hopefully no one recognize me. I went to sleep that night with a big smile in my face.

The next day, a big ruckus woke me up.
“Chi, what’s the matter?” I asked still half asleep. “Can it wait a bit longer?”
“Mariya’s being attack by your fans.” I suddenly rise from my bed.
“What? Why?” it just wasn’t clear, why would my fans attack Mariya? We are close friends but everyone of us in class are close to each other.
“Last night a fan blogged that she saw you and Mariya together yesterday. A couple of hours later, Mariya blogged that she loves you.” Yesterday? That’s impossible! Yesterday I was with-
“Oh no!” I picked up my phone and dialled Mirai’s number.
I told her about the situation and that we can’t be seen together in a while.
“Where is Mariya now?” I asked Chi since he knew all of the details of what happen.
“School, it’s the only safe place for her except her house.” Chinen said. “The agency said you can’t comment about this.”
“I know.” I undress myself immediately and put on my uniform.
Chinen just followed me until we got into the school, we didn’t even talk on the way. Chinen is a spoiled brat but in truth he is more mature than he acts and looks whenever Hey!Say!JUMP is around.
When I entered our classroom I immediately look for Mariya.
“Can we talk?” I asked her. There was no reply.
“Please Mariya.” Again she ignored me like I’m just a ghost.
“Ryosuke I think talking to her now might be a bit dangerous. You should talk during lunch break since there are no CCTV’s at the cafeteria.” It was Umika who replied to me.
“Okay then.” Umika smiled at me but I know it was a force smile. She is very close to Mariya and so is Mirai and the other girls.

During our lunch time, I went to Umika and asked her on Mariya’s whereabouts.
“She’s in the rooftop. She said you can talk to her only for 10 minutes and that’s that.” Umika said and I said my thanks to her. Mirai wasn’t around today because of a drama shooting so I was alone on talking to Mariya.
When I reached the rooftop, Mariya was there staring at the blue sky.
“Mariya.” She look at me, her eyes were so sad unlike the normal her that always smile.
“I don’t know what happen suddenly. I just want to say thank you-“ I was cut off when her hand suddenly touch my cheeks hard. “I’m sorry about all of this.”
“No, I’m the one who needs to say sorry. I just need to do that.” she was starting to cry. “You and Mirai are one of my closest friends, I’ll do anything to protect you both.”
“I don’t know what is more appropriate to say.” That was my honest answer. It was true that I was sorry for what happen but there is a part of me that is thankful to her, because if she didn’t do that blog last night, the
fans might think that the person with me yesterday was Mirai, and Mirai would be the one in this situation right now. “I did not anticipate that yesterday would have turn out to be like this. I’m sorry.”
“Ryosuke, you know that I’m one of your friends who always support your relationship with Mirai right?” I nodded. “But, if you do not even think or realize on what would happen to both of you, if this would occur in the future again. Then you better stop! I know you can’t exchange your career just to be together with Mirai. So please just stop this, don’t wait until Mirai’s career and especially Mirai’s feeling would get hurt as well.”
“I’m sorry Mariya, but I can’t do that.” Mariya sat on the floor, I can’t bear to comfort her. “I don’t want Mirai to be with anyone else but me.”
“I sacrifice my career for Mirai and you. Take responsibility of that!” she shouted. “Don’t wait the day where Mirai will be the one who will get force to drop out of this school Ryosuke.”
“Drop out? Mariya don’t tell me!” so it came to this already. Meaning it’s a lot worse than I thought.
“Yes, I’m dropping out. So this is goodbye Ryosuke.” She stood up and looked at me in the eye. “I will be here until Friday. Starting today please don’t talk to me, pretend that I’m only a ghost. Don’t talk to me or even go
close to me.”
“What about Mirai?” I asked her. “Will you treat her like that as well?”
“Of course not! Mirai has nothing to do with this.” And with that she started to leave. “Then Sayonara.”
The last words she said before I heard the door behind me closed.
The things that Mariya said, it all makes me think on what to do.
“I’m selfish.” I told myself.

Friday had already finished, it was Mariya’s last day hear at our school.
I didn’t talk to her or even got close to her at her last days here. Just like what she said to me at the rooftop
four days ago, I pretended that she didn’t exist.
I avoided Mirai at that time as well. I need to think and clear my head because of what happened.
“Mi-chan could we talk after the farewell party for Mariya?” I asked her. “It will be only for 15 minutes or so.”
She thought about it for a while, then she nodded.
Mirai decided that we should just talk at a private place where no one would see us, or would even care to
see us. So we ended up going to Umika’s place since it is near her house.
“I’ll leave you guys alone.” Umika said. I know Umika already know what I will talk about to Mirai so she openly offered her house for us to talk.
“So what is it Ryo-chan?” Mirai asked me.
“Mi-chan, I think-- “ I look at her as I hesitate to say the words that I need to tell.
“You think what Ryo-chan?” Mirai was getting concern, I’m never like this.
“I think we should stop this.” I look at Mirai and even with only that sentence she already figured out what this conversation is going. “I mean, the romance that we have. We should forget about it. I think for now, we should be just fri-“
“Don’t say it!” she shouted. “I don’t want to hear it! Please don’t say it.”
Mirai started crying, I feel pain in my heart as I see her cry. I wanted to hug her and comfort her. I wanted to say it was just a joke and everything is alright, but I can’t.
“Friends. Let’s just be best friends nothing more than that.” Mirai covered her ears, like she never heared what I just said. “I’m sorry for breaking our promise but Mariya sacrifice everything to protect us. It is only right that we bear some of the pain and sacrifice.”
“Why can’t you just let us both be happy? Why do you have to do this?!” It is really hard for me to do this, but I have to. This is the only thing me and Mirai could do to atone for the hardship we gave Mariya.
“I’ll see you at school, Mirai.” It was the first time I called her name coldly.
I ran out of the house.
I heard her call for me, but I decided to not look back.
I ran and ran until suddenly both of my feet gave up and I feel into the ground.
“Ah!!!!” I screamed. It was a good thing the street was empty at that time, I cried and cried.

After that night everything changed between me and Mirai.
We often talk now, since the agency strictly said to me to not get closer to girls from our class. We are still
best friends but she hangs out with Suzuka and Umika more.
We already lost what we once had before. I sometimes regret what I did and what to get back what we have back then, but I try to control myself.
‘Until I become 20 years old’ until then I will control myself from coming back to her side.

Two years already pass; it was already our graduation day.
I decided to tell her to wait for me. It’s only going to be a year and three months more before I turned 20 years
old. Then by that time, I can be with her just like I promise back then.
I called her into the rooftop after our ceremony.
“Ne, Mi-chan I need to tell you something.” I said to her. Looking at her now, she looks more girly and mature.
“Really? I have something to tell you too Ryo-chan!” it’s been a long time since we call each other with this nicknames we give each other.
“Ah! Then you go first Mi-chan.” I was trying to look like a gentleman. Well I am one, but only to her.
“Well you see-“ she looks nervous.
“What? Just spill it out Mi-chan!” I try to lighten up the mood.
“Alright! Jeez, your impatient as ever.” She said to me with a smile. “You see I have someone I like now.”
Those last words she said made me space out a bit.
“Ryo-chan! Are you listening?” I took a deep breath then nodded to her. “ Remember Kanata Hongo? I co-acted with him a few years back. We accidentally met a few months ago, and then without us knowing it, we kind of have this deep connection to each other now.”
“Wow! That’s great! You have someone you love now then, who loves you back.” It was like drinking the bitterest tea in a punishment game as I said those words. “I’m happy for you!”
“Thank you Ryo-chan! So what you’re turn.” I wondered what she said for a while then I remembered I told her I have something to say.
“Ah! That! Well I just want to say that I might have a new drama coming soon! And for the second time, I’m going to be the main character!” It was true that I had landed a new role. “I’m so happy that I want to tell you first!”
“Congratulations to you Ryo-chan!” I fake a smile in front of her.
We talk more after that. I fake my smiles and enthusiasm as she talks about Kanata-san and her.
When she wasn’t looking at me, I glance at the ring at her right hand, it was our promise ring.
All that time that we talk, all I could imagine on her stories was me being with her.
“Ah! I need to go now! Kana-chan is going to pick me up. It’s been a long time since we talk. I miss you Ryo-chan.” It was so sweet on how she said that.
“I miss you too! Take care okay!” I told her then she left.
I was alone in the rooftop by then; I look down where Mirai is waiting for the person she loves now, moments later I found myself crying.
I was too late, If only I could have turned back time I would never say those words to her two years ago. If I haven’t said it, I should be the one beside her now, not some other guy.
That was the biggest mistake that I did in my entire life but I can’t change that anymore.

Today I’m already 26 years old. In front of me is Mirai wearing a white dress.
She’s getting married to the person she loves the most today.
“I just want to see the bride before she gets married.” I said to her and smiled.
“Arigatou Ryo-chan.” She still called me that nickname after all these years. “Ryo-chan.”
“Yes?” Mirai look a little bit troubled.
“You do know that you’re the one I’m getting married to right?” as she said that I smiled my best smile.
“Of course I know that!” I told her and we both smile at each other.

“Sorry to disturb you guys but you’re going to be late with your own wedding if you don’t go out now.” Suzuka
said to both of us.
“Ah! Sorry!” I apologize and hurriedly went inside the church.
“Where have you been?”Chinen was already there at the altar when I entered.
“Sorry, I visited the bride first.” I told him and stand at my position. Soon enough that door will open and I will get married to the person that I truly love the most.

- I use the Mariya event in here longer than i expected it to be.
- sorry about the title as well, I don't know what to use as a title :p
- I was planning to put 'ring' as a title but my niece said she thought of the movie 'the ring' so I change it to eternity which doesn't really connect that much to the story...

“No, I’m the one who needs to say sorry. I just need to do that.” she was starting to cry. “You and Mirai are one of my closest friends, I’ll do anything to protect you both.”
“I don’t know what is more appropriate to say.” That was my honest answer. It was true that I was sorry for what happen but there is a part of me that is thankful to her, because if she didn’t do that blog last night, the
fans might think that the person with me yesterday was Mirai, and Mirai would be the one in this situation right now. “I did not anticipate that yesterday would have turn out to be like this. I’m sorry.”
“Ryosuke, you know that I’m one of your friends who always support your relationship with Mirai right?” I nodded. “But, if you do not even think or realize on what would happen to both of you, if this would occur in the future again. Then you better stop! I know you can’t exchange your career just to be together with Mirai. So please just stop this, don’t wait until Mirai’s career and especially Mirai’s feeling would get hurt as well.”
“I’m sorry Mariya, but I can’t do that.” Mariya sat on the floor, I can’t bear to comfort her. “I don’t want Mirai to be with anyone else but me.”
“I sacrifice my career for Mirai and you. Take responsibility of that!” she shouted. “Don’t wait the day where Mirai will be the one who will get force to drop out of this school Ryosuke.”
“Drop out? Mariya don’t tell me!” so it came to this already. Meaning it’s a lot worse than I thought.
“Yes, I’m dropping out. So this is goodbye Ryosuke.” She stood up and looked at me in the eye. “I will be here until Friday. Starting today please don’t talk to me, pretend that I’m only a ghost. Don’t talk to me or even go
close to me.”
“What about Mirai?” I asked her. “Will you treat her like that as well?”
“Of course not! Mirai has nothing to do with this.” And with that she started to leave. “Then Sayonara.”
The last words she said before I heard the door behind me closed.
The things that Mariya said, it all makes me think on what to do.
“I’m selfish.” I told myself.

Friday had already finished, it was Mariya’s last day hear at our school.
I didn’t talk to her or even got close to her at her last days here. Just like what she said to me at the rooftop
four days ago, I pretended that she didn’t exist.
I avoided Mirai at that time as well. I need to think and clear my head because of what happened.
“Mi-chan could we talk after the farewell party for Mariya?” I asked her. “It will be only for 15 minutes or so.”
She thought about it for a while, then she nodded.
Mirai decided that we should just talk at a private place where no one would see us, or would even care to
see us. So we ended up going to Umika’s place since it is near her house.
“I’ll leave you guys alone.” Umika said. I know Umika already know what I will talk about to Mirai so she openly offered her house for us to talk.
“So what is it Ryo-chan?” Mirai asked me.
“Mi-chan, I think-- “ I look at her as I hesitate to say the words that I need to tell.
“You think what Ryo-chan?” Mirai was getting concern, I’m never like this.
“I think we should stop this.” I look at Mirai and even with only that sentence she already figured out what this conversation is going. “I mean, the romance that we have. We should forget about it. I think for now, we should be just fri-“
“Don’t say it!” she shouted. “I don’t want to hear it! Please don’t say it.”
Mirai started crying, I feel pain in my heart as I see her cry. I wanted to hug her and comfort her. I wanted to say it was just a joke and everything is alright, but I can’t.
“Friends. Let’s just be best friends nothing more than that.” Mirai covered her ears, like she never heared what I just said. “I’m sorry for breaking our promise but Mariya sacrifice everything to protect us. It is only right that we bear some of the pain and sacrifice.”
“Why can’t you just let us both be happy? Why do you have to do this?!” It is really hard for me to do this, but I have to. This is the only thing me and Mirai could do to atone for the hardship we gave Mariya.
“I’ll see you at school, Mirai.” It was the first time I called her name coldly.
I ran out of the house.
I heard her call for me, but I decided to not look back.
I ran and ran until suddenly both of my feet gave up and I feel into the ground.
“Ah!!!!” I screamed. It was a good thing the street was empty at that time, I cried and cried.

After that night everything changed between me and Mirai.
We often talk now, since the agency strictly said to me to not get closer to girls from our class. We are still
best friends but she hangs out with Suzuka and Umika more.
We already lost what we once had before. I sometimes regret what I did and what to get back what we have back then, but I try to control myself.
‘Until I become 20 years old’ until then I will control myself from coming back to her side.

Two years already pass; it was already our graduation day.
I decided to tell her to wait for me. It’s only going to be a year and three months more before I turned 20 years
old. Then by that time, I can be with her just like I promise back then.
I called her into the rooftop after our ceremony.
“Ne, Mi-chan I need to tell you something.” I said to her. Looking at her now, she looks more girly and mature.
“Really? I have something to tell you too Ryo-chan!” it’s been a long time since we call each other with this nicknames we give each other.
“Ah! Then you go first Mi-chan.” I was trying to look like a gentleman. Well I am one, but only to her.
“Well you see-“ she looks nervous.
“What? Just spill it out Mi-chan!” I try to lighten up the mood.
“Alright! Jeez, your impatient as ever.” She said to me with a smile. “You see I have someone I like now.”
Those last words she said made me space out a bit.
“Ryo-chan! Are you listening?” I took a deep breath then nodded to her. “ Remember Kanata Hongo? I co-acted with him a few years back. We accidentally met a few months ago, and then without us knowing it, we kind of have this deep connection to each other now.”
“Wow! That’s great! You have someone you love now then, who loves you back.” It was like drinking the bitterest tea in a punishment game as I said those words. “I’m happy for you!”
“Thank you Ryo-chan! So what you’re turn.” I wondered what she said for a while then I remembered I told her I have something to say.
“Ah! That! Well I just want to say that I might have a new drama coming soon! And for the second time, I’m going to be the main character!” It was true that I had landed a new role. “I’m so happy that I want to tell you first!”
“Congratulations to you Ryo-chan!” I fake a smile in front of her.
We talk more after that. I fake my smiles and enthusiasm as she talks about Kanata-san and her.
When she wasn’t looking at me, I glance at the ring at her right hand, it was our promise ring.
All that time that we talk, all I could imagine on her stories was me being with her.
“Ah! I need to go now! Kana-chan is going to pick me up. It’s been a long time since we talk. I miss you Ryo-chan.” It was so sweet on how she said that.
“I miss you too! Take care okay!” I told her then she left.
I was alone in the rooftop by then; I look down where Mirai is waiting for the person she loves now, moments later I found myself crying.
I was too late, If only I could have turned back time I would never say those words to her two years ago. If I haven’t said it, I should be the one beside her now, not some other guy.
That was the biggest mistake that I did in my entire life but I can’t change that anymore.

Today I’m already 26 years old. In front of me is Mirai wearing a white dress.
She’s getting married to the person she loves the most today.
“I just want to see the bride before she gets married.” I said to her and smiled.
“Arigatou Ryo-chan.” She still called me that nickname after all these years. “Ryo-chan.”
“Yes?” Mirai look a little bit troubled.
“You do know that you’re the one I’m getting married to right?” as she said that I smiled my best smile.
“Of course I know that!” I told her and we both smile at each other.

“Sorry to disturb you guys but you’re going to be late with your own wedding if you don’t go out now.” Suzuka
said to both of us.
“Ah! Sorry!” I apologize and hurriedly went inside the church.
“Where have you been?”Chinen was already there at the altar when I entered.
“Sorry, I visited the bride first.” I told him and stand at my position. Soon enough that door will open and I will get married to the person that I truly love the most.

A/N: - sorry I think it's a fail. I rushed it because I'm planning to enter this in a competition in fb but I don't know if it will push through so I'll post it here first.
- I use the Mariya event in here longer than i expected it to be.
- sorry about the title as well, I don't know what to use as a title :p
- I was planning to put 'ring' as a title but my niece said she thought of the movie 'the ring' so I change it to eternity which doesn't really connect that much to the story...
