“Neither of you mentioned Rose at dinner-I took that as a hint. And I never talk about her during work, if I can help it.”

“You were chatty enough in Glasgow.” Elias’s tone held a pout.

I love to see the partners in action, even when they send mixed messages. okay, maybe even more when they send mixed messages cause it's great to watch them try and untangle it.

“You’re clearly mad for her, which leads me to believe she’s not the flake the zanzare would have us believe. You’re also-let’s be frank-not the most charming of people. I’m curious if you’re different around her.” Elias shrugged. “I’m just curious, Peter. You protect her fiercely-I want to know what kind of woman got you to that point.”ooh, curious Elias. I suspect he'll be impressed with Rose, and also be satisfied in finding out a bit more about the kind of person Peter is. I was listening to an interview with Alan Alda last night and he was talking about the psychology of celebrity and how people get weird about meeting famous people cause you're meeting someone ( ... )

I was listening to an interview with Alan Alda

Alan's a smart cookie--and very astute. I'd imagine, of course, he has had more than his share of experience...

could I request a Peter and Rose divulge some of their sexual fantasies to each other fic?

Perhaps after I finish annotating everything. ;) (which is a 'yes')

I imagine he feels even better for being able to tell her about this right away

Absolutley.

Hurrah for Peter finally acknowledging this!

Indeed. He needed to, unfortunately--and it's because he *does*, that he's able to become proper friends with Penny on down the line.

This is the conversation they probably should have had when they went away for the weekend,

Probably, yes--but neither of them were in the right headspace, I think.

I take it this takes place after A First Impressions Thing

It does indeed. *makes mental note to check The Order of Things to make sure that's reflected....*

it's help buoy my sanity in these crazy times.

*hugs*

That he is. I love listening to him speak, he always has the most interesting or funny things to say. I also remember thinking he was pretty hot in high school (I watched a lot of M*A*S*H and The Seduction of Joe Tynan) so I hold him partially responsible for my love of tall, lanky men... suits too if you count the tynan movie ;)

Perhaps after I finish annotating everything. ;) (which is a 'yes')

hehehe. good to hear. I had been reading Chicklet's Black Tie Affair, where Peter wonders what she'd look like in maid clothes (a throw back to age of steel I believe) but, it got me thinking what would happen if he told her about that thought.

Indeed. He needed to, unfortunately--and it's because he *does*, that he's able to become proper friends with Penny on down the line. yeah, that's always the hardest. It isn't because either of them is the bad guy, it's just the wrong place and time, but luckily for them, they make ( ... )

Assuming she didn't go into a bit of a tailspin, one wonders what sort of ludicrous fetish gear she'd crack wise about having to see Peter in first before she'd consider donning a maid's outfit.

“You were in a foul mood on Monday-even by your usual standards-and you’ve not mentioned her since you arrived. Short of your terse comment about not staying at her flat, that is.”
Peter laughed. “Brilliant detecting you’ve done, McCoy. And I told you I’d not be staying with her before I came down.”
So anytime Peter's in a mood, they're assuming a row with Rose? They're going to wonder just how much a couple can fight if they assume that.

“So will we get to meet her?”
Peter gave Elias a hard look. “You’re terribly fixated on that, you know.”
So are the rest of us, admittedly.

“You’re clearly mad for her, which leads me to believe she’s not the flake the zanzare would have us believe.
Ah, the detective suspicion. I'd be really curious to know what he thinks Rose does after meeting her (that is, if no one tells him).

You’re also-let’s be frank-not the most charming of people.
Ouch (though kinda true).

Not necessarily--it's just in this case, Elias's supposition was based on faulty cause-and-effect. He asked Peter about Rose, Peter was grumpy, therefore Peter and Rose were fighting. (Yes, Elias conveniently forgot that Peter had been grumpy the entire time.)

Ouch (though kinda true).

Elias's bluntness, fortunately, is just what Peter needs *g*

That war went on quite a long while, then

I never said it started with the sinking of the Titanic; I said that the sinking set things in motion for the war. ;) However, yes, the war did go on for a bit--it started in the early 20's, and lasted until about 1930, when the Depression hit.

She hasn't learned this lesson the hard way, has she?

She has not.

But could Williams block a transfer?

He could refuse to sign paperwork, yes.

Has he only ever been lent out to Blackpool?

He's been seconded a few other times--but mostly to very tiny departments within Cumbria.

Is he just comic-ly protesting or really protesting?He's ( ... )

You may have said already, but was the Titanic more like the Lusitania in PW?

He could refuse to sign paperwork, yes.
There must be ways around that, yes?

He's been seconded a few other times--but mostly to very tiny departments within Cumbria.
What were those experiences like? Did he learn anything? Surely they can't all be so dysfunctional as NLC.

I haven't said, actually. Titanic did hit an iceberg and sink...but there were other ships in the area, and the going theory at the time was that it had been more of a Lusitania-type event. It was those suspicions, etc, which set the wheels in motion.

What were those experiences like? Did he learn anything?

They were perfectly fine, I'm sure, but Peter was too busy being snarky and grumpy to really *notice*.

Oh, so much love for this chapter! Peter finally gives Rose a hint to his recent thoughts. Rose reminds him (yet again, and oh so patiently) that he is worthy of the good things in his life. *claps happily* They love each other and I love them.

I'm so eager for the drinks date with Elias and Ruby. (So, will Rose recognize Elias as being the doppelganger of Sir Robert of the Torchwood Estate??) ;)

Tease. (Though I'll still be bouncing eagerly in my chair on Monday morning whilst waiting for my friends page to load.)

Will we be getting another installment of AAT soon? Please? Pretty please?

Ah. Yes. About that. Monday is a holiday here in the States, and you can be darn sure I'm sleeping in. Expect the chapter to be delayed about...5 hours, max.

Will we be getting another installment of AAT soon?

Perhaps next week--it all depends on how the Annotated stories go. *g*

A meeting with Jackie and with Elias and Ruby! I love it. I also enjoy how Rose is making Peter see that he is worth it, hopefully he will believe her soon.
