Whee! I've been waiting up for this. Now I can go to bed with happy dreams... well, I hope. Better review when I've actually read the chapter. :D

Whoo, talk about a close call! You had me worried there for a minute. You really do like to put your readers through the ringer, don't you?

Not often...but sometimes. ;)

Oh, this is really getting good! I'm stuck on a train heading back home to work and real life so I'll leave a proper review later, but wow did the tension in this chapter have me speeding through it. Oh, Peter, all that and it's only 9am for him.

Oh, poor, cuckolded Martin. Who knew a relationship formed in the hospital as you're ODing wouldn't last?
I was terribly afraid for him!
The plot keeps getting curiouser and curiouser, and I love all of it - vanishing junkies, suspect methadone clinics, what's not to love? And, I did laugh loudly enough to wake up my roommate as Peter realized he wouldn't be anywhere close to the neighborhood of punctual if Rose were there. He really, really wouldn't, would he? :)

Cynic!

The plot keeps getting curiouser and curiouser, and I love all of it

We're just now a third of the way through ASTG. ;)

He really, really wouldn't, would he? :)

Were Rose there, he'd probably find a way to avoid work altogether. ;)

I had to read this twice before I could comment. The first read through went to fast because I had to know if Martin was okay. The second was to pick up all the subtle nuances you write into each character and scene that make everything so solid and real. I mentioned ages ago that this is one of the first times I've ever read something and enjoyed the descriptors as much as the dialog and action, and this chapter was fantastic for that. I found myself hauling through to the end but a bit disgruntled because I knew I was skimming things I would actually enjoy..so I couldn't wait to read it again. (I'm a person that often -by often I mean almost always- reads the end of a book first so I can actually enjoy the ride of it all without the anxiety of wondering how it all ends.)

Gorgeous chapter and likely my favorite so far in this story.

You know, on my fourth read, I realized that Elias and Ruby being there with Peter when he is afraid for Martin is a VERY. BIG. DEAL. They have now seen a side of him he probably wouldn't have willingly shown-and they saw it in his boyhood home. This is a huge chunk of history that helped forge that armor he bangs about in.

They handled it with grace. Well, Ruby's definition of grace may not be conventional..but I for one adore her for it. I wonder if Peter will even realize it and have a moment or two of panic, or have they hurdled enough of his defenses that he'll take it in stride?

Did I mention how much I love this chapter?

Absolutely. They both have a much better feel for--and understanding of--Peter, as the result of this.

I wonder if Peter will even realize it and have a moment or two of panic, or have they hurdled enough of his defenses that he'll take it in stride?

It doesn't even occur to Peter.

Did I mention how much I love this chapter?

I'm very glad to hear it! *g*

Poor Martin. I might...slightly damage him but, as with Peter, I'll never permanently break him.

The second was to pick up all the subtle nuances you write into each character and scene that make everything so solid and real.

*blush* Thank you.

Gorgeous chapter and likely my favorite so far in this story.

And thank you, again. :)
