Yeah! I'm very happy this was his secret. I'm rushing out the door, but I had to read first. Thank you so much for this. Really, this is the best way to start the day.
Well, the best way to start the day when you don't have a Peter of your own to start the day with. :)
*whump* yep, definitely killed by the hotness. what lovely surprises for them to wake up to. She's rarely going to have a hard time getting information out of him is she? and he's never going to mind too much ;) I wonder what the job is...... is it connected to his trip to Scotland, or was that merely him going to hide out and think the offer over?

Er, yeah--and the converse is true, as well. If Peter ever wants to get information out of her, well, he just needs to put his clever clever hands to work. Not that Rose would mind....too much ;)

Scotland was merely him going to hide out and think things over. As to the job? Well, that's the sequel. Which *will* be written (and as things stand, you'll get this week's story from Peter's POV at some point ;))

I *love* the his and hers perspectives of things... as one of my 'board game' suggestions implies :)
not that I'm anxious or anything... but will that be Monday's installment or a later date ?
Well that's a brilliant secret to have!! I was starting to worry that he was going to pull another ex-wife out of the woodworks and we'd be back where we started.
He’d not told her why he’d been in Scotland, ... Now he was up early where usually he would have stayed in bed for a snuggle; ... If things weren’t going well up in Kendal, would he tell her? Would he try to put a brave face on, try to keep from worrying her? Hmmm, I get the feeling she'd have noticed it in his attitude if something was wrong, but equally, I think Peter very well might try to hide bad things out of habit or because he just wants an unspoiled weekend with her.
he, uncharacteristically, was already up and about somewhere. Is this because of his news/Scotland? Is he nervous about telling her?
“And you’re freshly showered.” “And if I’d known you’d be so frisky, I’d have waited for you.” Hee. Dare I say... steamy? ;0)
“Peter...” she whispered against his skin. “I just want to know that you’re alright. That you’d tell me if you weren’t.” “I’d tell you.” “Scotland...you’re alright?”This makes me slightly uncomfortable-- I'd worry he'd think she was just doing this to get him to tell her what he'd been doing. I know it's

Exactly. He trusts her, and Rose would probably be able to work out if something really was wrong, given time; but Peter's spent years hiding things from people as a form of self-protection. And sometimes, those habits die hard.
Is he nervous about telling her?
Yes--his mind is whirring away at a million miles a minute at this point. Not just "should I take the job", but "how do I tell Rose" and "do I ask to move in with her" and all of those questions.
This makes me slightly uncomfortable-- I'd worry he'd think she was just doing this to get him to tell her what he'd been doing. It made--and still makes me--a bit uncomfortable, as well. Because it could so easily be (seen as) manipulative in a malicious way. And there are so many emotions and undercurrents going on here, I'm not sure that I'd ever be able to really capture or convey it in the written form. Rose, I don't think, went into it with the idea of "Oh
( ... )
And Peter absolutely will call her out on it more properly at some point. "D'you think doing that will always get me to talk?" is the line I could most easily hear him uttering ;)
And Rose would respond 'Actually, no, I was hoping for the end bit... when you couldn't even call my name.'

Not to mention, such a lovely way to wake up in the morning.

She really couldn't--but she did it because she cared about him, not because she wanted to use the information against him.
such a lovely way to wake up in the morning.
Naked!Scruffy!Wet!Peter? Oh yeah. ;)

Oh, no--no more ex-wives. Or illegitimate children. Or male lovers. I think most of Peter's skeletons are out of the closet at this point.
Now Rose just has to tell him about the Doctor and regeneration and ripping open the TARDIS....
