A Dinner Thing (1/2)

Chapter One | Chapter 2

He slammed the door behind him as he walked into the flat, frustration with the zanzare boiling within him once again. They’d somehow managed to take pictures of him and Rose rowing the day before. He, locked out of not just the flat but the building itself; Rose freshly returned from Greenwich, her small car parked just in ( Read more... )

I have one query - 'zanzare'?

It originates out of principia_coh's fic, Mirrorball. They're the Pete's World version of paparazzi, tabloids, and yellow media in general.

And yes, it was *great* fun to write Loreen getting her due at long last. :)

Rose is just magnificent - I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that

Er, no. That would *not* be fun.

In other words, it couldn't have happened to a nicer person! [/sarcasm] ;)

excellent! here I was thinking at the beginning that they would somehow cleverly trick or elude a zanzare, but no, it got even better and Rose got to meet Loreen.

This is a far more fascinating prospect as tabloid stuff from Loreen was far more damaging to Peter than from someone who doesn't know him at all. I like that he can recognize how he has grown and that he didn't flee the table, even though he wanted to and might well have done in the past. whatever insecurities he may have with Loreen, the publicity, or the money, he trusts Rose enough to know he is more than good enough for her.

so I'm left to ponder if this will this be enough incentive to keep Loreen from being tempted to do more damage. guess I'll have to wait.

Oh, yes. Loreen had nothing flattering at all to say about him.

whatever insecurities he may have with Loreen, the publicity, or the money, he trusts Rose enough to know he is more than good enough for her.

Excellent point. Poor Peter, though--ten years on, and his fight-or-flight still kicks in with Loreen.

so I'm left to ponder if this will this be enough incentive to keep Loreen from being tempted to do more damage.

One suspects that Loreen the Thing would find being roasted over an open pit preferable to the righteous fury of Ms. Tyler, should she decide to test Rose's promise of retribution.
