A Bedtime Thing

“Are you certain that’s what you’d like to hear tonight?”

“Yes.” The answer was definite. Peter was often amused by how similar in temperament Rose and her youngest brother were; once a decision was made, it was almost impossible to get them to change course. The young boy was only three-conceived, he suspected, over the weekend that he and ( Read more... )

[happy sigh] They're just so right together, aren't they? I love how focused they are on each other, how they give and share so much.

As someone who used to do story times at the library, Peter's got the story-reading technique down solid. And hee, I love the idea of him exaggerating his accent for comical effect.

I just adored this. Thank you!

They really are. They've both learned from their previous relationships--and each is benefiting from the lessons the other has learned.

I've always had this sneaking suspicion that, for all his prickliness, Peter would be incredible with small children.

I just adored this. Thank you!

You're welcome. Stay warm today!

What with the way he handled Ruth in Blackpool? :D

I think we should have a part deux, where we get to see either the baby or the belly. I can't help myself around those stories. *grins*

This was positively lovely. As always, you manage to beautifully capture and word their love for each other.

There *is* a story which would meet one of those requirements...but it won't be posted until after February. Hmmm...maybe February will be all of the sickeningly sweet ficlets--the wedding, the honeymoon, Those Three Words... (no, I'm not joking).

As always, you manage to beautifully capture and word their love for each other.

Thank you!

awww. you've captured the sweetness of the moment so well. I can imagine Peter secretly hoping for a child, but putting in the not going to happen list and settling for being uncle to other people's kids. Poor Peter, lucky for him, Rose has a knack for good timing amongst other things.

The time frame on this makes me curious though. How many years did they date before getting married? I would also like to shamelessly mention that I liked the hallway seduction, and kept expecting Jackie to sneak up on them, though with Peter's speed of getting Rose to their room, perhaps that has happened before?

thanks for posting.....and happy martin luther king day? my sense of American holidays has gone a bit squiffy, so forgive me if I'm woefully off.

That's exactly as I imagined it, too! Which is why it *had* to be Rose asking for one--because I simply couldn't see him doing it himself.

How many years did they date before getting married?

In its current iteration, the wedding ficlet has them dating for two years before getting married. That number varies depending on my mood, though--I've changed it about four times. Also, their time married in this chapter was driven by just one thing--the age of Rose's youngest brother. ;)

though with Peter's speed of getting Rose to their room, perhaps that has happened before

Oh, that's a hysterical thought. I can just picture Rose's horrified "Mum!", Peter being rather unrepentant (much like when Penny busted them snogging in the interrogation room), and Jackie saying, quite blase, "Just don't make babies in the hallway.")

Yay for marriage and babies!!! I mean, I was pretty damn sure they would eventually married and then have lots of sex and babies, but hooray for confirmations! I would have loved to have had that story read to me when I was little...my Dad's creative side only extended to insisting it was a tooth mouse, not a tooth fairy.

Uber excited for the new ficlet! Enjoy the day off!

Yeaaaaah....I was iffy about posting this, really, because it's so far out in Peter and Rose's relationship--and I had wanted to try to build to it. Then EGT, bless her soul, was like "Folks already know they're going to get married, and have kids! Just post it!". So, there you go. They get married, they have tons of sex (natch), and they even have a baby or two. With lots of adventures in-between.

Aw, but that's adorable! My dad wasn't even *that* creative! ;)

Have a good day off--and see you next Monday!
