Peter slowly blinked awake, the sound of the alarm clock invading the best night’s sleep he’d had in recent memory. He reached over and slapped the machine off, his mind wondering why the curtains were drawn over the windows, and why it was so bloody early. He groggily reached over to turn on the light, and remembered.
Rose was in bed with him.

It's this--a missing chapter from her current story; it's a piping hot bit of Foreplay on a cold winter's day, and it is awesome

I heard horror stories about that, and was grateful that I was in Delaware. And I was absolutely tickled that it only took me five hours to get home--from Rehoboth, in pretty much constant snow--last evening.
Traffic around here is very, very weird.

I also love how you so clearly get the sense that Peter's first priority is Rose's welfare, and how he's doing all he can not to completely give in and be swallowed up by her. And Rose is starting to get there, too . . .
Just a lovely, insightful, realistic account of, as you put it, the morning after the night before. Thank you!

Thank you! It occurred to me that the DCI would be lurking in the background, stewing; given any opporutnity, he'd lay in to Peter. And what better opportunity that not being available the night before? Whether he knew or not that Peter was seeing Rose, the DCI would certainly be the type of man to resent seeing one of his staff cede power or authority to a young woman.

Peter's well-nigh chest-deep at this point; his feet are starting to slip out from under him. Rose...well, she's not too far behind. :)
Thank you for your review--it was lovely. Cheers!

The true testimonial to this is the riverside exchange. He was just being so gentle with her.

Yeh, I know I wrote it. But still--*swoon*

Anyway, you've added little bits! Like this: "His voice was calm; compared to the whispered warmth he’d just used, it was like a bucket of cold water." That's just lovely. All of the little touches you added are totally brilliant. I adore them.
I'm actually quite fond of this particular chapter, I must say. I may just have to keep revising which is my favorite as we keep moving forward.

Well done! I had meant to e-mail you this morning...but forgot. *Sigh*

I, er, might have tweaked here and there, yes. Old habits die hard :)

I really *didn't* like this chapter when I first sent it to you. But it's definitely grown on me, to that point that it's right up there with 37 in my book.

I love Rose's line of thought here; that she's kind of waiting for the ax to fall. She thinks if things get too good, they'll just fall the hell apart. *nods* That seemed very her, post-Doomsday.
